An update to Adobe Reader installed Yahoo Toolbar on my computer. I have Firefox 6.0 It seems to have slowed it down. How do I get rid of it?............

Should be able to right-click in the blank area to the right of the tab in FF, and left-click to turn it off.

IE is similar.

Sometimes you can go into ‘programs’ on your OS and it will be listed. Then it will prompt you to ‘remove’.

Go to Control Panel, click Add/Remove, find the offensive bugger in the alphebetical list and remove it.

How do I remove Yahoo! Toolbar for Mozilla Firefox?
You can remove Yahoo! Toolbar just like any other Firefox Add-on (also called an Extension in older versions of Firefox).
Here are the steps:
Click the Tools menu at the top of the Firefox browser.
Click Add-ons or Extensions in the Tools menu (depending on which version of Firefox you have).
In the window that opens, scroll until you find Yahoo! Toolbar and click on it.
Click Uninstall.
Click again when you are prompted to confirm.
Close the Add-ons Manager or Extensions Manager, and restart your browser.

Go to the Tools menu and select add-ons. Click on extensions, locate Yahoo Toolbar in the list, and off to the right, you can click on “Disable” or “Remove.”

You might have to close and then re-open Firefox then

The fun part’s when Ask.com takes over your browser’s search, and you have to basically download another program to undo it. I really wish these places would stop defaulting to these extras being installed. If Adobe wants to charge for Flash, fine, do so. But the annoyance of the pennies it picks up for these toolbars and whatnot isn’t worth it.

An even quicker way to get rid of it is to go to “View”, “Toolbars” and uncheck the “Yahoo” toolbar. This does not delete it from your computer, though. To delete it entirely, you should be able to delete it using the “Add/Remove programs” control panel.

Since you got rid of it, I’ll be helpful anyway, and tell you that the latest Firefox is/was full of bugs and resource (memory) hogging issues. It has already gone from 6.0>6.01>6.02>>>>>>>7.0!!! Growing pains, ugh!

Their new “rolling” updates/upgrade versioning plan seems to be working great. /sarc Luckily, for me, I use my Ultimate Edition Ubuntu boxmostly, so I’m still at 3.6.23.

Yahoo Toolbar is often a separate application in your programs listing. Highlight it in add/remove programs and then select remove.
