Prediction: Obama/Clinton vs. Romney/Haley in 2012

Posted on 10/09/2011 4:32:20 PM PDT by CondoleezzaProtege

Despite what some may think, Hillary would help bring some momentum back to Obama. She is popular with independents, blue-dog Dems, and would mobilize the female vote. If Hillary refuses, then he may pick someone like Senator Kristen Gillibrand. (The holder of Clinton's former Senate seat in NY.)

If Romney were smart, he would seriously consider Governor Nikki Haley of South Carolina as his runningmate. (If she agreed to it.)

She has conservative, Tea-Party credentials and a previous Palin endorsement under her belt. I think she is impressive, but obviously nowhere near the energizer and "spark-filled," visionary person Governor Palin is.

I admire Haley, but am not her biggest fan. Something about Haley seems too "safe" to me. She is willing to tow the conservative line, but she's also very careful about not stepping on the machine's toes. She's also very deliberate about laying the groundwork for her political future. Hence why she never went out of her way to come to Palin's defense or tout her praises until AFTER Palin made the decision not to run in 2012. -- Hence why Romney would not mind working with Haley to bring his "less liberal than Obama, but still crony-driven agenda" forward.

Would have to support that ticket against Obama, but not with any joy.

It’s funny, the people who wanted McCain to lose 2008 said that we would get the next Ronald Reagan in 2012, where is the next RWR?

The establishment GOP started a two-front war against her in conjunction with the Dems.

She declined to run.

NO cheers, unfortunately.

I think the “establishment” or “elite” is now something that people blame when things go don't their way e.g. “The banking establishment” “The NFL Establishment” “The Corporate Elite” “wall Street elite”.

There is no such thing as the GOP establishment, or at least it is overstated. Yes, there are people with opinions who differ from mine. I know different republicans from Dixicrats to Rockerfellar Republicans and unfortunately I found very little, if any support, for Palin among them. If the establishment did exists, it would not have to work very to keep her out.

Before I get accused of being a RINO, it is ironic because people who supported Palin were being called RINOs by some, I was ready to support her and I was one of the early supporters of her for the running mate nods.

Having said all of that, I hope we can get a reaganesque nominee. At least some one who believes in free markets and American exceptionalism.

Let me put it this way: what national-level Republicans did you hear taking a stand FOR Sarah in public, in the aftermath of the Tucson shootings?

*crickets*

Cheers!

I will not hold my nose to vote again. If the RNC forces the Mitt-wit on us. I will bolt and either stay home or vote third party. No more compromise.
