Short and Succinct Thoughts on Tonight's Debate Part II (Vanity)
October 18, 2011 | Self (Vanity)

Posted on 10/18/2011 7:01:22 PM PDT by katieanna

Greetings Friends, Neighbors and Fellow Citizens!

Come one, come all and give your summary of the debate tonight.

Looking forward to the commentary and I bid you all good evening.

My analysis:

Romney- dishonest and irritating as usual. Will not support. Cain- like a lot; but he means on the job training. No amateur hour. Perry- genuine. He stepped up tonight finally. Executive experience. I support

Santorum- Don't think there's much chance there

Michelle- Shrill, whiney. Five years in congress is not enough experience

Gingrich- Excellent. Can support.

Ron Paul- has got to go. Flat a**ed crazy.

I do not watch debates, because I think they are unfairly overrated, but thanks for the summary.

WINNERS (tie):
Herman Cain - bold strong conservative
Newt Gingrich - erudite strong conservative

and the others:
Michele Bachmann - protects Romney
Ron Paul - occasionally conservative, then on Kolob2
Rick Perry - occasionally conservative, generally weak
Mitt Romney - lied repeatedly (eg. sanctuaries, RomneyCARE)
Rick Santorum - took on RomneyCARE
CNN - set up the debate up for Mitt;Romney given extra time

Here’s my take on your take:

Romney- Slippery and irritating as usual.

Will support Cain - like a lot; he appears to be honest and a fast learner.

Perry - genuine. Came off OK. Long term pol.

Santorum - Don’t think there’s much chance there

Michelle- Shrill, whiney. Five years in congress is not enough experience.

Gingrich- Excellent. Can support...maybe.

Ron Paul- keeps it interesting. Flat a**ed crazy.

cain took a lot of shots,

but stood his ground.

romney looked petty, went down.

bachmann’s out.

santorum’s petulant kid.

newt, as usual, brilliant.

perry, a couple of good comments, feisty attack on romney.

paulard.

Newt is head and shoulders above the pack. The more I see of Perry the better Romney looks. And I don't like Romney. The questions favored Ron Paul because they largely avoided his psychotic side. Santorum--forget it. As someone said, back to filling in for fat Bill Bennett on Friday mornings. Bachmann--shrug. Cain--good pair-up with Newt, either way.

Romney was Romney. No change. He is what he is and I won’t vote for him.

Cain was pretty good but not great. He’s my #1 at the moment but I recognize that he is inexperienced in campaigning. This doesn’t make me doubt he’d be a good President, but we need for him to continue to improve so if he’s our nominee then he will perform well in the general election.

Perry had his best night yet but still he’s not very good up there. He just doesn’t express himself very well and doesn’t seem to have much to say either. (That is, there are problems both of substance and delivery.)

Santorum is not important and adds little to these events. I like him ok but I’ll be glad when he is out of the way.

Bachmann wants to tell a story every time she speaks. Several times she seemed to never get to her point. She gives me no reason to want to see her up there again.

Gingrich always adds substance but also always seems like a guy who is much better suited as a legislator than a President. He should run for Senate or something.

Ron Paul adds a bit being up there but I wish he got less time.

What a crock, it will take perry two days to get willards shoe out of his rear, what a butt kicking. Cain did excellent, newt did well, as did bachmann, santorium only messed up once. Paul is correct on the budget, and spending, misses the boat on the rest. Current standings are the same, Cain is the man in the beat, Willard second, then newt and bachmann. That is what the real non cnn polls will show.

He started out Very good and then let Romney off the Hook giving him another chance for More applause Lines by rehashing those Texas versus Mass. employment figures,Romney has that stuff memorized and clobbers Perry whenever he does that, Hit Him where Santorum did He is A flip Flopper and cant be Trusted. Perry in his Opening statement called him a Convienient Conservative and never Mentioned that again. The Democrats have a Campaign ready to go on that very theme to Bury Romney but the other candidates wont do it

Just saw the last half hour or so. Romney was definitely given preferential treatment in the form of more air time.

Perry was ok. Won’t vote for him no matter what so it doesn’t matter.

Bachman did well. Didn’t like her response about cutting aide to Israel.

Gingrich did well.

Cain rocked. Loved his response about aide to Israel.

Paul would be a joke candidate against zero. He just doesn’t have the overall charisma/charm/sanity it takes to be a viable candidate.

Santorum did well. But we all know he will never get the nomination.

As stated above, Romney was given preferential treatment by the moderator, and almost every question was directed to him.

Anderson Cooper was annoying.

Perry comes across looking stupid and stubborn and tentative. (Sorry, Perry supporters). Poor command of the English language. Romney fluid, as usual, but one suspects he is just playing conservative. Newt incredible, once again, and makes you want to support him till you remember he sat on the sofa with Pelosi and wanted carbon credits. He is reliably Newt, as he ended it with an attack on Anderson Cooper and his inability to end the bickering and stop all the commmenters from being Perry and Mitt. Newt’s mind can wrap itself around any problem, and talk about it like he is giving the Gettysburg address. If elected, will be one of the great orators in American history. I like and agree with Bachmann’s politics—every point she makes, but am left wondering why she is so low in the polls. Cain—he blew 2 questions—one on negotiating with hostages and I forget the other one (I think it was on the border fence). He needs to continue to think thru every issue. But still, you gotta love him. Santorum is petulent, the kind of guy you would not want to be stranded in an elevator with. Ron Paul was Ron Paul—defender of liberty to the death. A male incarnation of Ayn Rand.
