Tim Tebow leads Broncos to overtime win over the Dolphins in first start

Posted on 10/23/2011 1:51:29 PM PDT by Perdogg

Yes, I know it is the Dolphins, but he did throw two touchdowns and coverted a 2pt conversion to send it into overtime.

He was 13 for 27, 2-TDs and 0-Ints for QB rating of 91.70.

Very ugly win, but Tebow and the Broncs got it done.

Miami sure looks like a team dead set on getting Andrew Luck.

A win is a win.

I didn't see the game but how did Tebow get sacked 7 times? Normally a team looses when their QB goes down that many times.

I checked ESPN at 4 minutes left to the game with 2 TOUCHDOWN lead and I honestly, conceded the win to the Fins’. Oh forgive me St. Timothy for doubting you!

Prior to those last drives of regulation he was proving all the critics right. Wasn’t so hot in OT either. He better get a lot better very quickly.

Ugly win?

It doesn’t matter at the end of the season when counting the numbers in the win column.

Just like in racing, only the guy who finishes second remembers who did.

The cool thing about this is: Tim Tebow is a pro-life Christian Conservative! After he leads the Broncos to a few Super Bowl wins down the road, I think he’s going have a very bright future in politics.

Tebow had little to no protection.
His receivers where barely ever open, when they did get open he tossed it miles away from them.
The Broncos entire offense was at the last of the 4th quarter when they got 7 then recovered an onside for a TD+2

One of the big raps on Tebow is that his release is too slow for the NFL. IDK about that, but that may have had something to do with the sacks.

Yeah, ugly win — very common expression in football when a team plays like crap yet still manages to come out on top. And in this particular case, the Broncs came out on top because Miami finds a way to lose every single week — probably the worst team in football.

He already got 90 % of what he needs......a heart of a lion

Tebow has no supporting cast on offense.......Orton doesn’t win that game today.

Give Tebow some weapons on offense, like he had at Florida, and you’ll see the value he brings.

The Fish could have had Drew Brees, but passed him up in the draft. They had a shot at Brees again, but signed what’s left of Daunte Culpepper instead. If they get next year’s number one pick, they’ll use it on a punter.

They quarterbackphobes.

It doesn’t matter if he wins or loses. They hate him because of what he is. ESPN has some especially negative analysts who have never trashed a quarterback especially a rookie or young quarterback like they’ve gone after Tebow.

He’s a successful Christian who must be trashed and destroyed. Nothing would make ESPN and the MSM happier if Tebow were gay, addicted or fathers a kid out of wedlock. If he was maimed or injured they would hold a celebration.

What people need to do is look at the haters. Why such virulent hate. It’s cause they hate themselves and only by trashing good people do they feel better. Envy , jealousy and pettiness.

It does matter if he wins or loses. The myth that the Christian player is automatically hated has to face why ESPN shows so much love for Reggie White, Kurt Warner, Troy Polamalu and Steve Young. I know it’s popular to assume all the criticism stems from his religion, but it flies in the face of history.

For 3 1/2 quarters Tebow proved all his critics right, his release was slow, he failed to see open receivers, and his passes were inaccurate. Just like they’ve been saying about him since his senior year in college. There’s no virulent hate, they’re paid to point out the deficiencies of players in the field, that’s the job.

He was sacked seven times and...

...Tebow made his first start of the year after Denver benched Kyle Orton, and for much of the game the Broncos sputtered. As Tebow walked to the sideline after one series stalled, spectators chanted his name in derision, and Dolphins players gestured to the crowd to keep the jeers coming...For 54 minutes, Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos couldn't score... Then they couldn't be stopped...Tebow led TD drives of 80 and 56 yards sandwiched around a successful onside kick, and he scored a 2-point conversion standing up with 17 seconds left to tie the game...Broncos win in overtime.

One cannot help seeing the parallel between this game and Rick Perry's campaign.
For Tebow and Perry, 'quit' is not in their DNA!

I’ve lived in the Miami area for almost 27 years. The Miami Dolphins runs like the federal government, wasteful and uncaring.

I hope you’re right. This was once a proud franchise with die hard fans.

I am no fan of UF, or UM, or FSU. No dog in the fight. I don’t care for the Miami Dolphins or the Denver Broncos. I think I am pretty neutral on all the football fronts.

The level of vitriol hurled at Tim Tebow has been disgusting. Some say he is over rated...maybe so. I suspect a lot of it may have to do with his faith.

Because of this apparent bias against TT because of his Christian faith, I was happy to see him lead his team to a win so late in the game.

Give Tebow some weapons on offense, like he had at Florida, and you’ll see the value he brings.

You'll see the value he brings when he doesn't have a supporting cast. In the current state of the Broncos, the standard for Tebow will naturally be Elway. John Elway repeatedly brought the Broncos to the superbowl in years when there were no other players much better than average on the team. He couldn't win a super bowl all by himself, for those he had to have a good team around him, but the early years he picked up the team and carried them. For a Bronco fan, that is the standard, fair or not.

I started watching football regularly right when Miami first became a good team, losing to Dallas 26- 3 in Super Bowl VI. And we all know what happened the following year. Those early ‘70s teams are burned in my memory.
