The only thing lit is Pyongyang and probably not even all of that.
Lucky it didn’t rain anywhere that night.
Gonna be very easy to tell if a planet is reasonably inhabited. Just look at its dark side.
No place left to escape too...
So many planets. So many, many more light-years.
Apparently the lefties are using this as evidence to show the planet is overpopulated.
You got to beat that speed of light first, no doubt. Just kinda making a joke about all those Sci Fi shows and movies where the spaceship orbits the planet on the lighted side only and the captain says, do a scan for lifeforms.
Hey idiots, why not just look at the dark side of the planet as you approach ?
"Man this will be GREAT! Talk about Dark Skies. I will be able to see everything tonight and get a lot of deep sky photography done up here in North Korea."
Approaching North Korean villagers:
"Mr. Foreigner, may we eat your leg please?"
Crap...I left the light on.....again
Items of note on these pictures;
1) North America: How much of Canadian population is so close to the US border. Will this change with Global Climate Change? Has Al Gore bought land there?
2) North America: Look at the differences between Jamaica, Cuba and Puerto Rico, in both intensity and color. Real paradise there from the Castro brothers.
3) Europe: Look how bright tiny Israel is in comparison to its neighborhood.
4) Air Route Map: It may be an artifact of design but look at the bright lines going southwest from Spain to the Spanish Canary Island [?] area. We talk about European financial problems but there are a lot of cold Europeans going on summer vacations to these safe warm areas.
That is extremely cool!
If you look at the Caribbean you may be surprised to see that Cuba is very well lit, whereas when you look at Haiti/Dominican Republic you can see that the DR side has more going on. Puerto Rico also is fairly well lit.
