Guess I’m safe. My doctor sent me an email saying that my Vitamin D blood level was 147, which is 3 times what it’s supposed to be, and maybe I should lay off the supplements for the time being.

I noticed the part where he said basically “We’re beyond the point of wondering if there is an effect, and now trying to figure out what the dose/response curves look like”

And the smilies were Kool!

But of course we are fools to think a simple vitamin could ever be as good as a highly sophisticated chemical compound!!

;-)

Take some time off. Remember, Vit D is fat-soluble, so you probably have a fair amount stored, which, actually, is good to have for the winter when sunlight goes down.

I read that the half-life of Vit D in the body is about 60 days. Get it checked again around New Year’s day, you should be good to go.

You should probably have a blood test to see your levels. My was at 21, so the Dr. put me on 8,000 units a day, took a while but my level is now at 77. Never get a cold, flu, etc. and my husband has been in the hospital since Jan 5th so I’m there alot and have not picked up anything, thank goodness.

I take 2000 iu a day and not sure if I should be taking more. Also I noticed in the comments for the youtube video that some seemed to be suggesting you take D and D3 ...I thought it was the same thing. (??)

The minimum dosage recommended was 2000 units. At 400 units it had no effect on cancer, but would cure rickets.

I am in Alaska, Think I will go from 5 to 10k.

From the video, looked like they were saying 25ng/ml serum level for vitamin D was able to reduce risk from many cancers by 50%. 1ng/ml was achieved per 100 IU supplement taken, so 2,500 IU achieves the base level.

I take 4,000 IU per day, I don’t get colds or flu much anymore, if I do catch a bug it’s very minimal...No more colds lasting a week.

Unfortunately I’m not going to be able to get it checked again. I just lost my health insurance, and my doctor’s last transmission was really the last. :-(

We take 4,000 IU per day and bump it to 6,000 if we feel a little off. Hardly ever get sick anymore and we have sworn off all vaccines.

I take 5,000 IU Vitamin D3 softgel once a day - from Puritan's Pride. The research looks pretty good and 5000 IU by and large a safe dose. As always, check with your doctor though.

Yeah. Just imaging an honest to YHW PhD advocating pill popping. Well, he's not exactly a PhD, (He's a Dr.PH) but may *better*, avoiding the two traps of the PhD learning more and more about less and less, and the generalist learning less and less about more and more.

What about these UV-B bulbs/lamps?

They seem pretty expensive, are there any relatively inexpensive UV-b bulbs one can put in a regular lamp to get Vit D3?
