As long as they can raise them well, it’s no concern of mine.

What kind of a job pays enough to afford 20 kids?

I think he’s in commercial real estate. I haven’t seen the show, but I asked the same question a couple years back. Some of their kids are grown and gone. I don’t think they will have all 20 at home.

He made a lot of money in real estate and they are very frugal (but not stingy) with their money.

No money from the government and very well educated and well adjusted kids. In our society, I guess that makes them freaks.

Oh you have GOT to be kidding me!

After the health scare the last one gave them, you’d think Mrs. Duggar would tell her hubby “Don’t touch me until you get snipped”.

Now granted...they are devout Christians who have raised their kids in a loving (if slightly cramped) environment, and the older kids have turned out to be fairly fine examples of Christian adults.

Even so...20?

Depends on what level of lifestyle you want for the kids. Lot's of jobs would provide Rio slum level support. Not too many would supply enough for US poverty level, and very few would provide enough for a normal childhood as experienced by middle class Americans. But this is irrelevant, since it is my understanding that the parents force the children to care for the other children kind of like a 19th century child labor sweatshop, but rather than manufacturing things the child labor is directed in providing care for younger children. What a sh!tty childhood.

I couldn’t believe the comments on the article’s site. I think it’s wonderful that this family has decided to keep having and love all their children! What a blessing! Their decision to do so is between them and God.

Oh, I hope she stays well. She had trouble with her blood pressure during the last pregnancy. IIRC the docs performed an emergency C-section and the 19th child was delivered way before due date. I hope there is not another life threatening situation this time. A home with 20 kids sure needs a Mom. The Duggars are an admirable family; wholesome and loving. I enjoy their show.

I wonder if they ever considered adoption. There are hard-to-place kids who could benefit from skillful parenting.

It's none of my business, but I think of it this way.

As long as they are Republicans, we can use as many in the future as we can get. If each one of these kids has at least 2, and so on.

Cheaper by the dozen is the old saying. They pay no income tax.

You're right, they should grow up without responsibilities, and get to spend all of their time like rest of America's children, self-indulging in TV, video games, Little League, soccer, karate, etc etc etc. and having their parents serve them.

Today's children are turning out to be such winners, right?

Good for them. If they want to have 30 children what business is it of mine. They seem to be very good people raising very good children.
