Friday, thousands in Moscow, giving Nazi salutes and carrying placards declaring, “Russia for the Russians!” marched through the city shouting racial slurs against peoples from the Caucasus.

In Nigeria, Boko Haram, which is Hausa for “Western education is sacrilege,” massacred 63 people in a terror campaign to bring about sharia law. Seven churches were bombed.

Sunday, The New York Times reported that Uzbeks in Kyrgyzstan are suffering “horrific abuse” following last year’s pogrom.

Ethnic nationalism, what Albert Einstein dismissed as “the measles of mankind,” and religious fanaticism are making headlines and history.

Welcome to the new world disorder.

Read it all here. Poor old Pat. Smart, articulate, knowledgeable, not as I once thought an anti-semite (cf. eg. John Demjanjuk), and yet...what to make of this nonsense.

We have encountered immense difficulty, including a civil war, to bring black Americans, who have been here longer than any immigrant group, into full participation in our society.

Blacks: kidnapped, enslaved, dragged into the country and held in chains are immigrants? I don't think so.

What a silly criticism.
Whites to the Americas were kidnapped enslaved and dragged here as well.
The english crown took men from his German lands to fight the Indians and Revolutionaries (kidnapped).
Debtors from all over the crowns islands were sent as indentured workers (enslaved).
Use whatever special word you want for the black Americans if it makes you happy.

Slavery was a terrible thing, I am glad my country ended it. I have often wondered if the descendants of those slaves ever wish they were still in Africa rather than America. Personally I can't think of many things worse than being born in Africa today.

Yeah. You could be partly right. And he might just as well have said longer than any animal, mineral, or vegetable group.

In colonial North America, farmers, planters, and shopkeepers found it very difficult to hire free workers, primarily because cash was short and it was so easy for those workers to set up their own farm. Consequently, the more common solution was to pay the passage of a young worker from England or Germany, who would work for several years to pay off the travel costs debt.

During that indenture period they were not paid wages, but they were provided food, room, clothing, and training. Most white immigrants arrived in Colonial America as indentured servants, usually as young men and women from Britain or Germany, under the age of 21....

At the end of the indenture, the young person was given a new suit of clothes and was free to leave.

you’re right and Buchanan knows this too... and he picks and chooses. We weren’t a country yet, so you’re first post is more right.

You need to work on your reading comprehension. Buchanan did not call African-Americans immigrants. He said they have been here longer than any immigrant group. The only error is that we had immigration to the US prior to to the restrictions on the importation of slaves.

Slavery is indeed an evil thing. The indeginous black skinned do NOT desire to live in Africa. They desire compensation for their great-grand-parents (and earilier) liberty being violated by theri barbarian countrymen.

What is ignored is that their “civilized” - having the same customs & practices as those enslaved - neighbors caught their neighbors, and sold them when possible to the evil white man.
