This is a great crockpot sweet potato casserole. Have made it for many years and everybody loves it. See http://www.food.com/recipe/sweet-potato-casserole-crock-pot-337498 for the recipe.

Sounds good, but I’m not quite getting the directions. Do you put the sweet potato mixture into a casserole dish, then place the casserole dish inside the slow cooker?

Thanks, sharbam. I might try it. Tried a new recipe for sweet potato spoonbread a couple of days ago and it disappointed. Was hunting for a new sweet potato idea!!

Sounds good.

Whatever you do, dump the canned sauce for your Thanksgiving dinner!

Why do people buy that awful cranberry sauce in the cans? It’s so easy to make it from scratch- and as for taste, there’s is just no comparison.
FRESH CRANBERRY SAUCE

1 c. water 1 c. granulated sugar 3 c. Ocean Spray fresh or frozen cranberries

In a saucepan, combine water and sugar, stirring to dissolve sugar. Bring to boil; add cranberries, reduce heat to medium low. Cook until skins pop. To gel sauce, cool completely at room temperature, refrigerate until firm. Makes 2 1/4 cups.

No need to add anything to this recipe. It’s absolutely delicious with just the berries and sugar. Once you taste this, you’ll know what cranberry sauce tastes like, and you’ll never go back to that awful greyish glop in the cans again!

PS:

This makes a beautiful addition to your holiday table. The red cranberries are absolutely beautiful. Just put them in a festive, clear bowl. I save some of the whole cooked cranberries to adorn the top of the sauce.

As I said, don’t add anything to this recipe. Anything other than the berries just takes away from their wonderful taste.

Nope. Takes away from the natural deliciousness of pure cranberries.

That’s just a little to much bourbon for me.

mostly its the time thing....you have everything cooking and its hard to cook any thing extra...but I know what you mean....very easy to make...might even add a pinch of cinamon and some orange pulp....

whole cranberry sauce is WONDERFUL in a home made fruit salad....its a good way to finish up your cranberry sauce after Thanksgiving...
