JONESBORO, Ga. (CBS Atlanta) – Police charge two caregivers at a Jonesboro facility with waterboarding an 89-year-old woman.

Clayton County police said Jermeller Steed and Cicely Reed held down Anna Foley after an argument that started over ice cream.

They’re said to have allegedly held down Foley in a locked shower room, flooding her face with the hand-hold shower nozzle in 2008.

According to WGCL-TV, Foley was undergoing treatment at the facility for dementia. A co-worker witnessed the event and blew the whistle.

The technique slowly drowns subjects by blocking the air passages with flowing water while the subject is immobilized.

The Obama administration banned waterboarding suspected terrorists in January 2009, classifying it as torture.

Just take them to the field and horse whip them. As my Grandmother used to say.

As long as the caregivers were a couple of Eric Holder's people and the 89-year old woman was not one of Eric Holder's people, I don't see the problem.

Or at least Eric Holder wouldn't.

Do you mind if I say we take Eric Holder’s people to the field and horse whip them? Personally I don’t care if they are Holder’s people or not they are scum and need a good beating.

Old age “caregivers” are some of the most depraved workers around. My grandmother had a terrible time trying to get the sadists to clean her off properly after defecating, finally one of them threw a roll of toilet paper at her in bed.

There was a beautiful living room in the old age home, only the sadists would never let the old people in it.

The article makes it sound as if water boarding old ladies was common prior to Saint Obama's reign.

As my parents were fading away from old age and dementia, we were fortunate enough to work out home live in care for them.....and the agency plus the gals all knew that I could and would drop in unannounced at any time of day or night.

“Old age ‘caregivers’ are some of the most depraved workers around.”

Basically they’re bullies who choose a profession where they can beat up on those weaker than them. Hence the saying “You begin your life helpless and you end your life helpless.”

Honestly, this is why some people just choose to drink, smoke, and eat bad food all the time; because they want to die young and not become some illegal immigrant nurse’s punching bag (literally).

If I read the article correctly....

...they were doing it wrong.

(In real “waterboarding”, no water actually enters the subject’s body. Thus sayeth my USAF pilot informant who experienced it at SERE school.)

You can hardly blame them. My mom wanted her mom to live with her and had room in the house, but my grandmother refused, unfortunately.

The nursing homes, even the “good” one, were complete nightmares.

In olden times, (up to the 1960s or so), nursing homes were more like almshouses for the poor and those who had no family to care for them. Many old people also went into convents or monasteries in the past. Generally, you would have been cared for by your family, which was not a big deal since people didn’t live as long and if you became seriously ill, you were going to die quickly. In fact, the original purpose of Social Security was merely as an anti-poverty program for poor people in (especially) rural areas.

Nowadays we have this nightmarish situation of large numbers of old people receiving thousands of dollars worth of drugs and surgery to cheat death for another week, plus being rammed into nursing facilities like sardines. We have epidemics of cancer and dementia that were unheard of in the past when people rarely lived long enough to experience them.

My grandfather had it right. Had heart problems, but refused to get any surgery on them, and died at 74 still active and able-bodied. He knew when it was time to go rather than live too long and become a burden on others.

Good for you! My parents had to be in a nursing facility before they died. I learned quickly to go often, go at irregular times, and be vocal about their care. They were in the best home around, but even that needed to be tweaked from time to time. There were unfortunate individuals there who had no family or who had been pretty much abandoned. I know their care was less because no one paid close attention.

This article is total bs. The police, or the local district attorney, could charge them with assault or attempted murder or battery, but I doubt there's a "waterboarding" statute on the books.

Judge: What's the charge, counselor?
DA: First degree waterboarding, your honor.
Judge: First degree?
DA: Yes, your honor, they used dirty water.

We had to put my mom in a nursing home. Visited here EVERY WEEK to let the personnel know that we were monitoring her welfare. They never appeared to abuse anybody but we wanted to make sure.

One thing that would choke me up is that when we went to see her, the old timers were lined up on the porch, staring off into space. Out of courtesy, I'd say "Hello" to them and they'd light up and want to talk - to anybody. I did for a bit, but would be there still as these poor people were just hungry for some attention.

Nursing homes and rehab facilities (right before the end, Mom had surgery for a broken hip - hence the rehab) are so depressing to visit — all the broken bodies and minds....

isn't that generalizing a wee bit too much?...

you could have taken in your grandmother yourself.....why didn't you?....

we had little money growing up, but we took our grandmother in and she had her own room, and we kids doubled and tripled up in the other rooms....

don't criticize workers in a poorly paid and poorly reguarded job when you yourself would never do it, not even for loved ones...
