A 32-year-old Webster man who allegedly advertised as a babysitter on Craigslist has been charged with sexually assaulting one of his charges.
Steven P. Knox is free on $30,000 bond after being arrested Thursday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.
According to court records, a 6-year-old girl told investigators that Knox, whom she knew as her babysitter, put his finger in her private area four times. The girl said Knox had put "ice" on his finger and that the penetration had burned.
The assault allegedly took place at Knox's home on West Bay Area Boulevard in late June, according to court records.
A sexual assault examination on June 24 at Texas Children's Hospital showed that the girl had a 3-millimeter tear on her vagina, court records stated.
The girl's mother said she found Knox online through the Craigslist website and allowed him to babysit her three children for a few months.

Craigslist is just the modern version of the classified ads in print newspapers. Blaming bad people on Craigslist is like all those silly stories about how "SUVs" are doing all sorts of terrible things on the roads of America. You know: they don't blame the reckless driver, they blame the fact that the reckless driver was in an SUV.

Tell me about it. This is the website that regularly gets people murdered, the latest being a few days ago when a man and a teen were arrested for murdering men who answered their Craigslist ad for farm work (yes farm work). The men were killed and robbed when they met with the “farmers”. And these people are hiring babysitters through this same system?

Scams luring people in search of work or a bargain to robbery and murder have always been around.
Craigslist is just the technological equivalent.
The male I have now is the only JRT that I would actually trust with small kids. The vet loves him and says I should breed him for his temperament alone.
He definitely would have beautiful puppies! Add a good temperament and it is the perfect little dog!
