Pagan stone circle built at US Air Force training academy
The Telegraph ^ | 11-28-11

The US military has built a stone circle in its Air Force academy to give pagans, druids and witches somewhere to practice their religion.

The Colorado base has spent around £50,000 building the Stonehenge-like structure to allow witches to cast spells, and pagans to form "circles of power" by night.

It is situated on top of a wooded hill and includes a fire pit.

The academy says it is for cadets who practice 'Earth based' religions including druids, witches and North American faiths.

Despite the expenses it is believed only three out of the 4,300 cadets have openly admitted that they are pagan.

Bob Barr, a former Republican congressman, campaigned to ban witches from the military, saying: "What's next? Will armoured divisions be forced to travel with sacrificial animals for Satanic rituals? Will Rastafarians demand the inclusion of ritualistic marijuana cigarettes in their rations?"

The Wiccan religion was added to the US Army's chaplain's handbook in the 1970s and includes details on how covens are organised and how Druids worship 'Mother Earth and Father Sky.'

"Most Wiccan groups also practise magic, by which they mean the direction and use of 'psychic energy' — those natural but invisible forces which surround all living things," it explains.

The air force says the site is to help to protect the constitutional right to religious freedom.

But some think it is an attempt to attract more Wiccans to the army.

Well, rocks aren’t as complicated to build as, say, toilet seats. :-))

Yes, it is. Freedom of religion means being able to practice something other people might not like. We know the limits: human sacrifice and polygamy. The USAF has a reputation of being the most overtly Christian of the armed forces. I like it, being a Christian myself. However, if a pagan officer manages to get through the Academy, then they need their chance to worship.

Great with the military cutbacks coming we can strap missles to the bottom of a broomstick. Think of the savings.

The government is aggressively trying to undermine the Christian character of the Academy. “Diversity” is now the watchword in admissions. This means that more under qualified people will be admitted to satisfy the diversity god, and they will be passed through unless they commit a crime that can’t be covered up.

Rest assured that mentally ill girls who think they are “witches” will be admitted if they can find any that could possibly be carried through. They are also scouting for sodomites. Just ask the ALOs.

Affirmative action and “diversity” undermine the competence of the Armed Services and are an attempt to gradually bring the Services into alignment with the left.

Does that include having Jewish officers? Or blacks? The Air Corps/Army Air Forces used to oppose blacks and the Navy never wanted any Jewish officers. As long as they are qualified and can do the job, I can't forbid them from being at the Academy.

Of course, considering how fuzzy neo-Pagan thinking is, most of them would fail as doolies.

“The government is aggressively trying to undermine the Christian character of the Academy.”

I was not aware that the United States Air Force Academy was a Christian Institution.

I wouldn't be too concerned. The Academy has caught a lot of crap about accommodating evangelicals and this is eyewash to make them look accommodating to everyone. The chances more than a handful of cadets would ever use this are pretty slim.

The Chapel is still the Chapel and is still the most beautiful structure on the campus.

“If you belong to practically any other religion, you have to go off campus to your place of worship.”

What religions would those be?

In WWII the Russians put women pilots in obsolete planes and had them drop bombs at night. The Gremans called them the Night Witches.

Sounds like a natural venue for late night keggers following cadet home football games. Even has a "fire pit" to roast brats.
