I purchased a MLB.TV subscription this year, and it was a pure pleasure to be able to listen to Vin broadcast Dodger games.

as good as he is ... he never shuts up! Scully works alone. He probably says less than the combined chatter of the two and three man teams. Also, he has been praised for the fact that he does know when to shut up when the crowd noise tells the story.

The sound of summer...the golden tones of Vin Scully's voice as he announces a Dodger game.
Happy birthday Vin!

One of my most vivid childhood memories. 1959 - Dodgers and Braves playoff. Riding my bike home from school and getting to the TV just in time to hear:
There’s a bouncer over the mound, over 2nd base, Mantilla has it...throws low and wild and Hodges scores, we go to Chicago!

Pretty good football announcer as well, he called “The Catch” in the 1981 NFC Championship Game.

I heard Vin Scully call a game last year for the first time (I am not from LA). I was, and continue to be stunned by the talent. Who the heck needs a color man when you have Vin?

Thank you for the ping.
Happy Birthday, Vin...and many more.
Wish there were more commentators like him.
The two The Angels have on TV are lousy. Terry Smith is good on radio.

...he does know when to shut up when the crowd noise tells the story.
Exactly...a real pro.
To: EveningStar
Ah, remember when he broke in with Brooklyn...days of radio under the covers when supposed to be asleep.
BTW, thought he would never last.....
oh well, like Rush, about the last time I was wrong....<: <:

Yup. I’ve been an Angels fan my whole life, but even I know Vin Scully is the voice of baseball. When I hear his voice, suddenly it’s summertime and the grass is freshly mowed, even in the dead of winter.
