With the ongoing conversation everyone has been having on income disparity, here's a Mint Blog infographic analyzing the phenomenon state by state.

Unsurprisingly, smaller states with fancy New York City-like commuter neighborhoods are among the richest, while Southern regions are among the poorest.

What's truly interesting are a few unexpected states in the second-to-poorest bracket, including Florida, Idaho, and Montana:

Notice the correlation between income and voting Democrat. Liberalism is simply the best method to “sieze the means of production” and prevent competition, which is why the uber rich favor it.

It’s really pointless unless the graphic is offset by cost-of-living figures.

Good graphic, but it needs to also indicate Education Level by state.

With that you would find that the states with the highest percentage of people with undergraduate and graduate degrees would also have the highest income.

I notice that all the "rich" states also have a super high cost of living.

My brother moved his family from Miami to small town Michigan, the salary he gets is smaller but he was able to buy a house out right using only part of the money he had saved for a down payment on a much smaller house down there.

Much more telling:

I see Obama and some of his domestic army have now adopted a platform calling for the government to make our lives fair. If they would add “Chocolate for everybody everyday,” I might be able to throw my vote behind that.

Seriously, I want a republican candidate to remind all of us, that life is not fair and it’s not the government’s responsibility to make it fair.

Can’t be true. Montana has lots of people making over $200,000 a year. Take Sheila Stearns, commissioner of higher education. Never elected, but pulling in over $200k a year. Helps if you’re Democrat.
