These residential high-rise buildings to be completed in Seoul, South Korea, by 2015 are connected in the middle by a cloud, which the designer says differentiates the building from other luxury developments.
The towers designed by architects at MVRDV are 300 and 260 meters high with a pixelated cloud in the middle at the 27th floor. The cloud allows for more light and room for decks and greenspace.

Marchon eyewewar came out with this ad just prior to 9-11-01. As you can imagine, it was pulled soon after.

I don’t buy his apology.
Do you honestly think an architect, in our day and age, isn’t intimately familiar with photos of the World Trade Center collapsing?
Architects and structural engineers are fascinated with the collapse because there was so much to learn about design and structural integrity from the disaster.

Yikes, my first thought was 9/11, then a Lego design gone bad

It reminds me that we should cut all financial aid to South Korea and start bringing our troops home.

This is a very neat and logical way of creating open greenspace up high.

...nor did we see the resemblance during the design process. No architect is that blind to design. And in spite of the apology, the building is going up as planned.
I'm sure the top penthouse floors will be purchased by Saudi Princes.

It was not our intention to create an image resembling the attacks nor did we see the resemblance during the design process What utter B.S.

Maybe Trump will get wind of this and decide to build a mushroom cloud building here.

Good grief. I simply don’t believe that they didn’t “see any resemblance.”
That picture went around the world and our post-modern artists were even declaring that it was beautiful (to see thousands of people incinerated?), so unless the architects had been living in a sealed box for the last decade, there was no way they could have missed the resemblance.

Yes, the architect could take your picture of a nuclear explosion - turn it into a building and have draw in small Japanese gardens at the base of the building. I'm sure no one would be offended.../s

overlooking the obvious similarity to the 9-11 images...
the idea is actually very intriguing. a platform that allows for an additional large area with top open to the air.
i'd suggest 3 towers to avoid the 9-11 impressions. the result could be a massive area high above street level. maybe arching curves for support going between the buildings. each building supporting the others
i'd also make the 3 buildings, kind of supporting columns, in a triangular shape with the arching support beams coming up the sides of each and arching over in both directions toward the other buildings... completing the triangle.
think 3 arches similar to the arch st louis
the top of the arch would be supporting the large living area... and the legs would come up the sides of the towers

It would be a really neat design if 9/11 didn’t happen.
