And in reality, 12,000 IU isn’t that much. Considering the body can produce 50,000 IU in about half an hour exposing skin to afternoon sunlight.

Very low dose.

Your body can make 50,000 IU in half an hour with lots of skin exposed to afternoon sun.

Vitamin D is a whole body immune system booster.

I had a website bookmarked a few years back where someone described early studies of skin cancer.

Doctors had noted that people who had skin cancer (presumably from sun exposure) who had not gotten to the metastatic stage RARELY had any of the other more deadly internal forms of cancer.

There are clinical studies in progress of a substance that can cure pretty much ALL KNOWN CANCERS and it is Vitamin D - immune system related.

I have spent a life time in the sun, horseback riding, gardening, fishing but now at age 71 I spend very little or no time in the sun. I am surprised that at my last check up I was only slightly low.

Intravenous Vitamin C is also really awesome.

Milk is supplemented with an artificial version of Vitamin D which acts differently. It binds Magnesium, which results in acid reflux. And you all know how much $$$ the pharma makes from acid reflux. The MDs don’t want you on the real thing.

Some of us can’t get enough from the sun to make any difference. The doctor told me I could sit in the sun for 12 hours and not get anything except a sun burn since I don’t process it right.

If you are deficient in Vitamin D as soon as they give you the prescription surf it will be like someone flipped a switch in your body. The first one I took I went form feeling like I needed a nap to feeling like I could run around the block. My level was down into the single digits when normal is 50 or above.

If you D is really low it can indicate issues with processing the vitamin D.I have those issues and had been told that the vitamin form of D3 has been processed so those of us like me can process it properly. It isn’t expensive I pay $24 for 6 packs of 5 10,000iu.I take 2 a week.

what they fail to realize is, Vit D needs magnesium, not calcium, to work properly. That’s why people can consistently test low for D when in fact they are deficient in mag. most people are deficient in mag as it’s not in our soil and water anymore. up your mag and your D will rise. (do not take mag oxide)

“Beyond its well-known role as a bone builder, studies have suggested that high levels of D, usually achieved by taking supplements, may do everything from reducing chronic pain to preventing the common cold.”

Everything from chronic pain to the common cold yet they try to criticize Vit D because it does not prevent cancer? Give me a break.

Pairing vitamin D with extra calcium does appear to help prevent broken bones in the elderly, however.

So does not slipping on ice and falling on your butt!!!

Get decent sun exposure every day without sunscreen. A little time in the morning and a little in mid/late afternoon.

Early and late in the day is when the Sun is low and you can't make vitamin D from the sunlight.

Scroll down the page and you see an ad "...from our sponsor Lilly [Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company]"

They have replaced "health of the patient" with "put a vacuum in the patient's pocket and suck until all you get is lint" -- and their bottom line matters more than public health.

And most doctors ought to be stripped of their degrees and consigned to cleaning toilets with their tongues.

At least as far as their knowledge of ANYTHING related to nutrition goes.

Read the study. They went ALL the way up to 1350 I.U. / daily. And have the nerve to claim most people get enough through sunshine.

Counterexamples: African Americans, and people living in Minnesota, the Dakotas, Michigan, etc.

Cheers!

But it does, at the molecular level.

These people are either cretins (not unusual for MDs) or in the thrall of pharmaceutical companies or Cass Sunstein and the Obaama ghouls.

Hat tip to decimon for his usual off-scale sterling work in posting it...

Cheers!

...oh, and Merry Christmas.

Yes, you're right. I was referring to the hypertext link in my post #58, which *is* a rebroadcast of one of your posts.

Sorry, I'm awkward today...that sounds vaguely insulting, no matter how I try to re-write it.

And I only meant it as high praise.

Oh well, Merry Christmas.
