It doesn’t matter if the farmers don’t receive the subsidy directly. They still benefit from higher corn prices.

Check out www.pure-gas.org for a state-by-state listing.

Since I have been using uncontaminated gasoline in my small engines all of my carburetor problems have stopped.

I DESPISE contaminated gasoline!

IIRC, the federal excise tax on ‘gasoline’ at the pump is 7 cents more than the tax on ‘gasahol’...which is e85...so there is still a backdoor subsidy. Also, the mandates to use ‘alternative’ fuel, coupled with the illogical EPA decision that e15 is okee-dokee will mean most motorists will be getting ethanol in their fuel. Personal story - the fuel line on my car rusted through. This wasn’t on the bottom of the car, but right under the hood near the fuel rail. It rusted through from the Inside...so I will continue to try to avoid ethanol, until the feral government eliminates all choice.

Interesting..Brazil is importing more and more US Ethanol.
They've changed their laws to allow it to have 1% water (as opposed to .04%).
If this continues, maybe ethanol can survive on it's own and the farmers wont take a shot in the shorts.
The last time the elimination of subsidies was proposed, Archer Daniels whispered it would close it ethanol operation immediately.

I expect a lot of ethanol plants to soon be closing as without these subsidies the cost of ethanol laced gasoline will be on par if not higher than regular gasoline. Consumers buy this crap largely because it is about 10 cents per gallon cheaper. Without the price advantage and that consumers are waking up to the fact that ethanol blends lower your miles per gallon and may damage engines especially with higher ethanol content blends I see demand tumbling.

End US sugar cane tariffs and subsidies, too.

I second that!

We need to pass a law to mandate the use of cane sugar in Coke and Dr. Pepper.

We shall see. Sure the house voted yes on a bill to block the EPA from using their regulatory power. I don’t see the senate following suit, and I certainly don’t see Obama signing that into law. The EPA and other executive agencies are out of control...and I don’t see this vote as stopping anything. Same goes for the congression vote against regulation of farm dust a few weeks ago...your congressmen gets a lot of great material to run on; but, I fear these symbolic votes have no effect.

THIS consumer buys this crap because it is the ONLY thing available within reasonable driving distance. There is a marina about a 45 min. drive away (65-70 mph) that has raw gas, but they only dispense in season and even then, only to boats in the water.
