What lead to the demise of the long-lasting relationship? Seems that Antonio found love letters in an old chest of drawers that his now 96-year-old wife had written to a lover way back in the 1940s. He showed his wife of 77 years the letter and immediately demanded a divorce. When confronted with the evidence of her affair, Rosa confessed her long-ago infidelity. While Rosa seemed to hope that the confession would allow her to reconcile with her husband and the father of her five children, instead Antonio filed for divorce at the age of 99.

If Antonio can just hold on another year, he’ll be featured on a jar of “Smuckers” on NBC and the fan mail will roll in. He can get fresh start on life!

He should have asked for an annulment.
I hope she doesn’t get a dime (or euro) in the settlement.

Who knows if they will reconcile. Yet she was not only stupid to keep those 'love letters,' she was also showing how she had retained a strong emotional commitment to the man she had an affair with. The husband in this way has a valid gripe. If it had been a one off and move on maybe he could deal with it. For her to have such a strong emotional tie to this man she screwed her husband over with in way makes him feel (as well as he should) that he has been duped. Had he known then, he most likely would have left her.

I am usually one to have a open mind about couples as they have so much complexity at battle in relationships. She was a jerk and an idiot for retaining those letters. She is living in a fantasy world.

You are right. She was stupid to keep those letters, and they do prove that she was living with him while dreaming of another man.

However, never admit to an affair. Even if they have pictures , say: That sure does look like me, but it aint me.

Never admit to it. Always leave them some doubt.Deny, deny.

Sometimes they are looking to give you that way out. Once you make an admission, you are hung.

Actually I think that this has really been in the works for a while now; they were just waiting for the kids to die first.

I've always found that the lying can be worst then the affair. I truly hate liars.
