A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it's core Jesus' gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Pride because you make a list and can do it and act better than everyone, or despair because you can't do your own list of rules and feel "not good enough" for God. With Jesus though you have humble confident joy because He represents you, you don't represent yourself and His sacrifice is perfect putting us in perfect standing with God!

IS THERE HOPE FOR THE LOST GENERATION PING?
... maybe ...
WARNING: While his faith principles may hit the mark, this
kid may vote Democratic because he believes Republicans are
religious hypocrites.
I don’t think it is so good that it bears repeating...

If Christ hadn’t begun a church, how would this numb taco know about Jesus?
Geez.
My question is: Why did you post the exact same thing twice!?!
Rhymes divorce with whores.
Rhymes practice with Baptist.
Rhymes mask it with casket, almost close.
Dare I go on? Simply hideous and what is it with the rap moves?
Sorry mtg... I’m deleting the first one.
I got a server message on the first one
that said it couldn’t post. So I made
another post from memory.
Don’t know if it’s Free Republic or my
computer, but posting is really slow.
DARTH VADER POSTED:
Yes it really hits the mark but he leaves the Democrats unscathed. In reality there are GOP, Democrat and independent who are corrupt as political party affiliation is no measurement of righteousness and integrity. If he secretly is holding a liberal philosophy and what it promotes (many immoral unrighteous positions)he may have the right words down but may still live in darkness and delusion not being enlightened as he professes to be.
I John 3:4-10 is a good measuring stick to weigh this by:
4 Everyone who commits sin is guilty of lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. 5You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 6No one who abides in him sins; no one who sins has either seen him or known him. 7Little children, let no one deceive you. Everyone who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8Everyone who commits sin is a child of the devil; for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil. 9Those who have been born of God do not sin, because Gods seed abides in them;* they cannot sin, because they have been born of God. 10The children of God and the children of the devil are revealed in this way: all who do not do what is right are not from God, nor are those who do not love their brothers and sisters.*
“this kid may vote Democratic because he believes Republicans are religious hypocrites.”
Yes and that makes his hypocrisy even greater because votes fora party that contains brazen enemies of the Cross.
“Yes and that makes his hypocrisy even greater because votes fora party that contains brazen enemies of the Cross.”
All political parties contain brazen enemies of the Cross.
I said that in post#11. Read more carefully.
Wow... you make a pretty big leap. What he says is true, Republican does not equal Christian. The only reason he didn’t say Democrat is because most people, especially Conservatives, do not equate Democrat with Christian. A lot of people do tend to equate Republican with Christian.
Back in Dec. 2000 I read this quote from the writings of A.J.Gordon:
“The mystery of godliness is God humbling Himself to become man; the mystery of iniquity is man exalting himself to become God.”
Back in the late 1980’s I received a Christmas card that had pictures of well known evil dictators (or would be dictators) with this title:
“History is crowded with men who would be gods; But only one God who would be man.”
The word religion and religious is in the Bible very few times. My favorite is:
“Pure religion and undefiled before God is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.” (James 1:27)
May we not forget: “Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it.” (Ephesians 5:25)
Cronos, I pinged you cause I thought you might be interested.
I wish he had connected BOTH political parties
with “Religion” as there are believers on both
sides of the aisle. IMHO, neither party has repre-
sented my conservative values in a VERY long time.
EXAMPLE: Remember Pelosi’s “the WORD” speech?

He didn’t say he liked Democrats...because they don’t pretend to be religious! LOL Anyway give him a break, he’s young and the basic message is fantastic and powerful. You shouldn’t hate but he will learn that
Well, I don't think I can fault him for considering the Republican party to be the sort of "say-things but don't DO things" type of group; consider that the overturn/repeal/countermanding of Roe v. Wade has been in the official Republican party planks since the mid-/early-80s... and even in the past decade where the Republicans controlled two of the three branches of government NOTHING was put forward (party-wise) even proposing the abolition of abortion.
And the same is true of "small government;" the Republican party SAYS things about smaller, more restrained government but WHEN has it ever actually done something that actively reduced federal power significantly?
And let's not forget NY-23, where there was a solid conservative (tea-party) candidate which the national-party overlooked and endorsed instead one of the "more moderate" candidates.
And, finally, consider Romney; he pushed something that is on the same level as Obamacare yet is being touted as good candidate? IMO, Romney is a *WORSE* vote than Obama simply because there will be a large-in-number group of citizens who will consider the (D) to (R) change in the President's affiliation to be 'good,' and thusly luring them into false sense of security/accomplishment/safety.
