Can't make it out for a Whopper? Burger King just might bring it to you.
The fast-food chain has begun delivering to homes in Washington, D.C., USA Today reports. If the test goes well, the King may expand the service to other cities.
Home delivery has always been a challenge for the food and beverage business. Pizza restaurants obviously have found success, but burgers and fries don't hold up quite as well in transit. They also lose some appeal in the microwave. Finally, the size of a fast-food order isn't normally large enough to justify the expense of delivery.
So why is Burger King doing it? The now privately held company tells USA Today that it has created "thermal packaging technology" that can keep Whoppers hot and french fries crispy. So no need to reheat your order in the microwave.
The orders have to be fairly substantial -- $8 to $10 at a minimum, depending on the store -- and Burger King adds a $2 delivery fee.
Burger King added a few more rules, according to USA Today. Customers must be within a 10-minute drive of the store, breakfast items are off the delivery menu, and sodas will come in bottles.
The trial is underway at four restaurants, and will expand to 16 restaurants by next week. Area residents can check availability by visiting bkdelivers.com.

I can see doing this in the DC area with so many people sucking on the gov with good jobs. Pitty the delivery person in SW DC (Marlboro Avenue).
Shouldn’t they work on making their food edible first? Not a fan.

within 1 year we had 3 armed robberies, 2 attempted rapes, and cars broken into every other day.

Even turned down lucrative job offers to work there.

If you want a good meal from BK, skip the junk on the menu and order a half dozen of those Hershey’s chocolate sundae pies.

Hell yeah. You know, if LaShawndra wants some BK stackers for her bad self and her eleven welfare brats, she's gonna boost that truck. She deserves it. And God help the cracker behind the wheel.
Now if Burger King could just get the USDA to allow Foodstamps to pay for meals, they would really have something....

Makes sense, the exercise in going out to get the food might slow down onset of the heart attack from eating it. Burger King is now making it easier to kill yourself with fat.
I’m going to drive out to visit friends in Southern California this summer. I’ll have to time my lunch so that I’m near a Whataburger. I haven’t eaten at one since my dad was stationed at Fort Hood back in the mid-80’s.
As if their burgers weren’t already practically inedible fresh from the drive up window.
I also got sick of the reheated burgers I kept getting at BK, but every now and then, I got one that was delicious, and tasted like the aroma we smell outside the store.
Then I learned that a customer could order a whopper "Fresh off the grill". The POS (Point of Sale) register that the counter clerk uses has this entry as one of their options.
When I learned I could order it this way, I returned back to BK and began to enjoy some great Whoppers again.
They really lost a bunch of customers when they decided they would fry up patties ahead of time, then just reheat them in the microwave. I have watched them from the counter and it appears they actually dip the patty into a water bath before placing them into the microwave, basically washing away the last of the delightfully charred oil on the patty that gives it that wonderful taste.
Remember "Have it your way" and order it fresh from the grill
