Todd on Colbert: Making A Mockery of The System (re Stephen Colbert/So Carolina Primary)
The South Carolina State ^ | January 19, 2012 | unnattributed

Posted on 01/20/2012 5:36:31 AM PST by truthkeeper

NBC Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd is no fan of comedian Stephen Colbert's efforts to take part in Saturday's SC GOP presidential primary and how the media is covering the Charleston native's "exploratory campaign." "But what he's doing now, with the campaign -- is that fair to the process?" Todd continued. "Yes, the process is a mess. But he's doing it in a way that it feels as if he's trying to influence it with his own agenda that may be anti-Republican. And is that fair to the Republican Party?"

Todd said Colbert and his Comedy Central satirical news counterpart Jon Stewart need to play by the same rules as mainstream reporters and anchors.

Colbert is scheduled to come to a rally in Charleston on Friday with Herman Cain. Colbert wants South Carolinians to cast votes for Cain, who is still on the ballot despite dropping out of the race in December, as a sign of support for the comedian.

I am so thoroughly sick of both of those Comedy Central jackasses and their audience of equally moronic watchers.

Anyone I meet that says they get their “news” from those shows, I simply do not speak to about anything.

F Chuck Todd: Don't vote for who Colbert wants, vote for who I want you to.

Sometimes I really wish this place were China. Most of these morons would be gone and the family would get billed for the bullet.

Forget Colbert and Todd - what do Freepers think about Cain’s role in this?

I don’t watch any of them, and I can’t turn the channel fast enough when they show their clips on television. Is that the John Stewart station? UGH, can’t stand him!

Cain is acting exactly how I would expect him to - trying to keep his 15 min of fame going. I don’t know how anyone can take him seriously now.

“Colbert is scheduled to come to a rally in Charleston on Friday with Herman Cain.”

Cain just aligned himself with Liberal clowns. He has lost my respect totally.

I would like to thank his many whores for showing us his true character.

Comedy Central is a Viacom property, and NBC is in competition with them for viewers.

Stunts like Colbert’s attract viewers that might otherwise be tuned into MSNBC or other GE properties.

“On Stephen Colbert’s endorsement of himself as Herman Cain, I find it very clever and humorous, as it should be,” Cain told Fox411. “Anyone who finds what Mr. Colbert is doing offensive, should simply lighten up. To be perfectly clear, I will not be assuming Stephen Colbert’s identity. We are very different when it comes to the color of our – hair.”

He wasn’t vetted. People assumed he was everything they wanted him to be.

Todd said Colbert and his Comedy Central satirical news counterpart Jon Stewart need to play by the same rules as mainstream reporters and anchors.

When it suits their purpose, they want to be taken seriously as journalists. Then they hide behind the cover of 'we're just comedians'. Jerks.

Colbert has never made me laugh.

However if he set himself on fire I might manage a chuckle.

I wish we wouldn’t allow any candidate into the presidential race who hadn’t first served his/her country in uniform. That would also address a number of other important issues. We wouldn’t always have like-minded candidates as in John Kerry or John McCain, but we would have decorum. All special interess would be right there on that dogtag.

Colbert is just doing a live action version of Rush’s showing absurdity by being absurd. He is ticking off the media because he is not stuffy and repetitive. What is the point of having the same questions asked in different formats by different people? You get nothing.

As well, he is showing how much of a joke the nominating process is. Only 2 people in Virginia? Only 4 people left after three small states. Crossover voting. How can he make that any more of a mockery than what it is?

But the bottom line of the article is that Todd is mad because Colbert doesnt have to play by the “respected rules.”

If it gets Dems etc. to vote Cain instead of Romney or Paul, I’ll take it.

Cain is a clown; he’ll do anything to stay in the limelight. Personally, I can’t stand the sight of him now.

Steve Cheese is a comedian? No way. Every time I see him, I’m reminded I have to put a new washer on the faucet.
