Rest in Peace, Ms. James.
And thank you for leaving us your legacy of some mighty fine tunes.
I remember the first time I heard this woman sing. I was 13 and I don’t remember what song she was singing.
But I do remember when I heard that magnificent voice I had chills on the back of my neck. Radio was not so good in those days, it was 50+ years ago. But her voice soared and she was with a group called The Peaches.
Etta James and The Peaches, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Elvis Presley, The Platters helped me get through my teen age years.

She was wonderful, just wonderful. So loved to listen to Mrs. James.
God rest her soul.
Sorry for the double post. I must have had a senior thingy.
Just a couple of days after Johnny Otis, who discovered her.
RIP Etta. Thanks for all those memories from my youth.

Her version of “I’ll Fly Away”. Today, she got her wings.
I love this song (Alyson Krauss’s version is wonderful, too)..and I want it played when I get mine.
Thanks for the memories, Etta.
If I never hear “At Last” ever again...
“Don’t Take Your Love From Me”, another great from Etta.
She had it going on in the soul department for sure.
Ohhhhh.....those ladies who can sing that note just a little flat.....makes me all warm and gooey inside.....RIP.....a great singer.
RIP Ms. James. Your voice and talent will be missed.
Thank you for sharing your gift with us.
Rest in peace and sing with the angels. I’ve always loved, “I’ve Been Lovin’ You Too Long”.
