I hope War Horse wins best movie. The two Actress’ from the Help should win those two awards. The guy from Living Loudly not close (or whatever it is called) should win supporting and Brad Pitt should win best actor in Moneyball. Four great wholesome movies. I hope that horrible actor George Clooney in that boring “The Decendents” does not win. I thought that movie was the worst I have seen and I have seen my share of stinkers.

You obviously cared enough to click and and post.
YAWWWWWWWNNNNNN!
I’ve seen one of these movies: Bridesmaids - I liked. I saw the European version of “The girl with the dragon tattoo,” which I’m sure was better than a lazy ass Hollywood remake.
Hollywood has no imagination anymore. Being Human, Shameless, The Office, Men Behaving Badly, multiple movies - all been there done that in Europe.....lazy slugs with no imagination.
For the last 84 years...
How does that apply to recent winners? (The King’s Speech, The Hurt Locker, Slumdog Millionare, No Country For Old Men)
Ah, i forgot about that. Indeed she gave an unbridled performance...lol
I have seen most of the films nominated.
I have no idea why Bridesmaids and The Descendants are even on the list. Bridesmaids wasn’t that good. The Descendants wasn’t too bad and nothing special.
Best Picture: The Artist. Second choice- Hugo.
Best Director: Martin Scorsese, Hugo.
Best Actor: Gary Oldman, Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy.
Best Actress: Meryl Streep, The Iron Lady. Second Choice- Michelle Williams, My Week with Marilyn.
“I have yet to figure out why people get on a thread and post that they don’t care about the thread. I am assuming it is some sort of psychosis. Some sort of narcissistic need to be noticed at all costs. “
Actually, I’d consider the poster of this thread to be the one looking to be noticed posting an article about Hollyweird on a conservative/political forum.
You wanna read about whats going on in Hollywood? Fine, read TMZ!
Thanks Borges for the thread..I thought it was a good year for cinema. The one (strange) movie that I can’t see in for best pix was Tree of Life. I scratched my head most of the way through it and the full house theater all left with bewildered looks
I hate to break it to you but there are threads about American culture here all the time. And with a lot of posts too.
How is it possible that this is Gary Oldman’s first Oscar nomination?
Just kidding.
“In Darkness” was directed by Agnieszka Holland, one of my favorite directors, if it’s half as good as “Europa, Europa”, it should take the Best Foreign Film Oscar.
