Serial Killer Targeting Pit Bulls In Houston Area
CBS Houston ^ | January 24, 2012 | MATT HIGGINS, CBS

HOUSTON (CBS Houston) — A pet serial killer is on the loose in the Houston area.

Seven dogs were found dead, six of them pit bulls, over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend. Three of those pit bulls were fatally shot, while the other four dogs suffered blunt trauma to the head.

“We started finding an unusual number of dead dogs, all of them pit bulls,” Emily Crossley, founder of Backstreet Brutality & Relief, told CBS Houston. “Two were found on top of each other … another one was found shot in the head inside a crate.”

I wonder if this is a black neighborhood. African-Americans HATE pit bulls with a passion - and they often have good reason (due to their miserable owners, of course). Maybe this guy is a wrong-headed avenger.

Several people come to our local doggy park with their pit bulls. I have never seen one of them showing any aggression to either the other dogs or the owners.

Of course I am sure that these are well bred and well trained pits.

I still have a tendency not to turn my back on them, though........

Actually, the most aggressive dog I have encountered in the park in the 10 + years I’ve been taking my dogs there is a Doberman mix.....there are several Dobermans that visit the park, but this one in particular just went a bit bezerk and went after a much smaller dog.

The owner was right on it—controlled his dog right away, left the park and I’ve never seen him there again.

The smaller dog had some pretty serious bites and spent a few days in the vet clinic, but got over it, and still comes to the park and plays well.

Maybe they should start targeting pit bull OWNERS. How I detest these bully breeds, and the cowards who own them and enjoy frightening moms with small children or are just out with normal dogs taking a walk.

If you live in a rural southern area, a lot of the much lower-class sorts have these dogs because they enjoy the rise they get out of those from a much more self-respecting class of person.

The fear that poor black children have of dogs is heartbreaking. They even shy away from my little sheltie. This is all due to vile people owning and training pit pulls for evil.

Some may be “white dogs.”

Chet99 got ZOTTED in Nov. 2010. Oddly enough, for a post totally unrelated to pit bulls.

He sure did seem rather obsessed with the breed...

I sense a lot of PB owners like this breed because it makes up for their lack "manhood".

(Not all, OK!)

Yeah, well a lot of womanhood may have a Judge in their handbag and may highly resent the way children are frightened. Highly resent.

In my experience, the most aggressive dogs are the small, yappy breeds. I admit I’m a large breed fan (and I also love mutts). When I look at a lapdog, or one of those tiny pups women stick in handbags, I think “fuzzy little animal”, but not “dog.”

The small yappy ones aren’t my favorites, either—I call them the yappy dogs.

I have 2 dogs at present. They are both Labradoodles. Ginger is the old lady at age 7. (Her photo may still be up on my home page.) The new one is now 9 months old, and she, too is a labradoodle. The unique thing about her is that she’s a labradoodle-labradoodle mix. She will be about half the size of Ginger.

She tried to be a yappy dog—but I got a no-bark collar. She only had to wear it once to get the idea. She is also a chewer—nothing is sacred if she can get to it.

I think she will turn out okay, though—assuming I let her live long enough—LOL!

(That’s a joke, folks!)

You are right. A Ford F150 I was driving was once attacked by a feral Chihuahua. I have never seen anything more aggressive or less concerned about its own safety when attacking. I wasn't sure what it was at first: it seemed like a monster rat on steroids with hundreds of tiny gnashing teeth. If I had been outside the truck, it would have taken my foot off at the ankle like a buzz saw.

The issue with pitbulls is not that they are overly aggressive. The issue is that they are one of the most powerful breeds and can cause extreme damage and death IF they attack. A dog bites a kid on the leg, the kid gets a few stiches and life goes on. A pitbull gets ahold of a kid and the kid is either dead or permanently disfigured.

My opinion on pitbulls and other very powerful breeds is this: if your pitbull bites a person, you go to jail for something along the lines of attempted manslaughter. I think they should be licensed just as much as other potentially deadly animals such as bears, big cats or wolves. I know people will tell all the stories about good owners etc etc, however, I have never read a story where the owners said that their pitbull showed signs of aggression. It is always, "well he was always such a good dog, I really can't believe he killed that 5 year old."

I literally laughed out loud when I read your post....”feral Chihuahua.” I can picture the entire incident!

“I think they should be licensed .... bears, big cats or wolves”

Licensed? “I’m sorry sir but I’m going to have to cite you for arming that bear without a license ... “

Yeah, we always need more laws. Breed specific legislation is just hysteria from dog-haters.

“powerful” More so than a St. Bernard? A Doberman? A Rottweiler? A German Shepherd? An Akita? A Great Dane? A ... you get my point.

Like Chet, like most bulldog haters your argument is full of holes.

If someone is killing aggressive dogs running loose then they are performing a public service.

They found dead dogs, but apparently no reports of animals abducted from their backyard or murdered while out with their owners.

A pit bull running loose, or any other large and aggressive breed of dog, especially a group of them, is fair game for SSS IMHO.

As far as I am concerned improper disposal of carrion was the guy’s only crime.

No bag limit. Keep them on YOUR property...period. Old women in my area won't go out for walks anymore due to punks walking their pit bulls or rottweillers.

“African-Americans HATE pit bulls with a passion”

That sure isn’t the case in my Houston neighborhood. It appears to be the dog of choice for rapper types. If I see a black person walking anything but a “pit bull”, it is noteworthy.
