People have been wondering when Tim Geithner would leave Treasury almost since he started the job in the middle of a horrible financial crisis.
Now, with yesterday's news that Tim Geithner will not stay on for a second term if President Obama wins in November, we know when Geithner plans to leave.
And with that, speculation of who will replace him is inevitable.

The "grown up" at Facebook is said to be on the short-list.
She certainly represents the best of American business right now, and given her experience at Facebook almost certainly has the temperament for the job.
The unknown: how badly will she be needed in a post-IPO Facebook?

Erskine Bowles
The former Clintonite's name has been floated in the past. He's respected by the business community quite a bit, and his time on the deficit commission makes him credible on one of the biggest economic issues of the day

The world is full of incompetents to replace the current one.
It could be Jarvis Tyner. They should get along quite well.
I’d say Mitt Romney, but Obama would probably consider him too liberal.
Maybe he’ll pick Sam Webb.
Me...I wouldn’t know what I was doing, either.
If Obama was being remotely honest about his intentions, he’d nominate Katrina’s “looter guy”.
Am I the only FReeper still using a RED “TAX CHEAT” stamp on currency with Tim’s signature on it?
At first I thought he'd be better off with a list of short people, but that might include Robert Reich, so I'm backpeddling on that one.
Jon Corzine is available as well. That should conclude the nominations for the replacement Sec. of Treasury Theft.
RE: Jon Corzine is available as well
The scary thing is this — HE WAS SERIOUSLY BEING CONSIDERED FOR THE JOB AT ONE TIME. That was prior to the whole MF Global fiasco.
Craig Livingstone?
The Federal country club “prisons” are chock full of other tax cheaters. Pick any one,
The way I look at it, we should take account of which company employs these idiots, and boycott them.
