Rep Edward Markey of Massachusetts has written to Heartland asking for them to document the inaccuracies in the Fakegate documents and asking for originals.
In a letter to Heartland Institute President Joseph Bast, Markey asked the group for an explanation of any inaccuracies in the leaked documents as well as accurate versions of those documents.
“These documents appear to indicate that the Heartland Institute is receiving large donations from corporations for the direct purpose of discrediting the mainstream science of climate change and has planned to engage in a campaign to undermine the teaching of well-established science at our public schools,” Markey, the top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee, said in the letter.
If I recall correctly, Heartland's climate change activities were not actually corporate funded at all. What an extraordinary error to make.
I think it is probably worth Heartland documenting what is wrong in the fake document, since this is in the public realm. As to the real one, I suggest they tell him to mind his own business. Private matters should remain private.

Markey is among the most stupid members of the not-so bright Congress.
Impressive. Sort of has the ring of, “Do you think the reason that you were raped is because, as the rapist said, “you were dressed provocatively and acting all sluttish while you were walking around on the yard in front of your house, like all of your kind, doing slutty gardening?”
As far as I am concerned, Markey sits at the very top of the snake pit.
Since this libelous claim that they are corporately funded is also now in the public domain - as I have read it - they should name Congress(girlie)man Markey in any follow on suits.

I would not cooperate with sending him documents without a warrent (no government funding involved). I would let him make a real big public deal about it and drag it through the media. Then I would pop it on him and expose him as a corrupt politican working with corrupt media actors covering up more scams for corrupt global warmists. I would demand the organizations the scam artist worked for be defunded by the government and that his contracts and grants be canceled.
And he's been getting away with it for about 40 years that I recall.
If the little prick were not a member of congress, he would have been sued in oblivion for slander decades ago.
