I can understand turning down a minor fight, rather than risk a career. But if you’re turning down a possible 100 million dollar payout, if you win and a still significant amount, regardless of the outcome, I have only one word, “chicken”.

that he "can't afford" to give up a split. If he doesn't fight, he gets nothing, but if he fights, he gets $50 to 100 million? He must be studying that Obamanomics.

Can’t....quite....put my finger on it, but the word “idiot” keeps coming to mind.

Exactly. Mayweather has been dodging the Pac Man for years now. He’ll never fight him. Because he knows the Pac man will destroy him.

Mayweather is a coward and the cheap shot he took against Victor Ortiz last year was a very un-professional display of how childish he is.
He’s a coward and that is a fact.

Maybe Don King enterprises is involved and the boxer wants nothing to do with it, where 50 million might end up being just 100 or 200 grand after the promoters, managers, and trainers take their cut.

I’m not a big fan of boxing, but I never heard of Manny until a coupld of years ago.
But I’d say you’re correct on your assessment.

Mayweather is one of a handful of boxers who are still UNDEFEATED.
Maybe he wants to go down in history as being undefeated rather than risk a possible lose (even if it’s worth relinquishing $100 Million ). After all, he’s rich enough already...
Just my guess...

Something like thirty professional fights without serious damage is normally a pretty good career in boxing. Manny Pacquaio is another case like Duran of a guy whose gotten to double that and basically scared everybody close to his own size into the woodwork. Mayweather would have no chance in a fight with Pacquaio and he knows it.

Hey, for 50 mil, I’d let* Manny beat my butt to a pulp!
But the only payper viewers interested would be liberals who know my political proclivities...
*I’d try of course, but not much chance of looking like a real fighter!

Just my guess... You're guess is spot on. Mayweather's ego couldn't tolerate a defeat and he's turning down a min. of $50 mil to prove it.
In his own mind he's already a loser!!!

It’s not about the money. Mayweather has tremendous talent and ZERO character. No way he’d risk losing or getting (his ego) hurt.

Exactly. Mayweather has been dodging the Pac Man for years now. Hell never fight him. Because he knows the Pac man will destroy him.
After watching Pacquiao struggle to get past Marquez, I'm not so sure that's it. But Mayweather does throw up a lot of objections to a fight he claims to want.

Oh. I like that. Too funny.

With that kind of analysis, no doubt Mayweather is in line to replace Timmy Geitner or Ben Bernyakme.
