Boxing suffered a great loss Sunday when the sports legendary journalist and historian Bert Sugar died at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco of a heart attack following a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was 74.

Mr. Sugar’s stories were a hallmark of his reporting.
He was an original.
I always enjoyed hearing him on those espn classic boxing shows. He seemed like the type of guy who could talk to you all night about boxing history.
