The teenage girlfriend of a former Modesto high school teacher, who left his family and job to be with her, has left him.
Jordan Powers, 18, left 41-year-old James Hooker after he was arrested this week on charges of oral copulation with a minor at a high school he once taught at.
"He called me from jail and I told him we're done," Powers told ABC's Good Morning America.
The couple made international headlines after Hooker left his job and family to move in with an his former student.
Police said the latest charges stems from a 1998 relationship he had with a 17-year-old student from Davis High School, where he once taught.
"I lost everything for this guy, I lost my senior year and I gave up all my friends at high school because they didn't agree with it," Powers said.
Hooker appeared in court Friday afternoon. A judge set his bail at $50,000 and assigned him a public defender, according to The Modesto Bee.
Hooker requested that his bail amount be reduced, and the judge set a hearing next Tuesday to consider the matter.
Police said the investigation started after Hooker announced his relationship in February with Jordan Powers, whom he taught at Enochs High School.
Appearing on numerous talk shows and in news interviews, both maintain they didn't have a sexual relationship until she turned 18, but police are investigating whether there was inappropriate contact before that.
Powers mother has been spearheading a campaign to get Hooker arrested for having an inappropriate relationship with her daughter.
He looks kind of like Bill Ayers with a shaved head.
It is my personal hope that somebody beats the living sh*t out of him in jail.

Frankly, I have no sympathy for her either.
This kind of guy, a borderline coach, who trusts the love of a modern 18 year old, is why public education is a sadistic, marxist joke.
