Beyonce, the world's tiniest rescue puppy, now at four weeks old, has captured the heart of millions around the world - and who could resist the story and these photos? This week, she was given a clean bill of health from Folsom veterinarian, Dr Jennifer Sweet DVM.
Beyonce was not breathing when she was born and had to be resuscitated. At birth, she was so small that she fit into a spoon and weighed one ounce (28 grams). Four weeks later, she weighs a little under 7 ounces, (around 200 grams), a far cry from her birth weight of just under 1 ounce.
Definitely the runt of the litter, her brothers and sisters currently weigh in at 1 pound 10 ounces or more (740 grams). But now, Dr Sweet thinks Beyonce may be able to live a full and complete life.
Beyonce, named for the song "I am a survivor" by R & B singer Beyonce, was rescued by The Grace Foundation of Northern California, a nonprofit organization that rescues and rehabilitates hundreds of animals each year.
The Grace Foundation matches rescue animals with disadvantaged and special needs children and youth in therapeutic, educational and leadership programs.
The world record academy pronounced Beyonce "The world's smallest puppy," two weeks ago. They called the Guinness Book of Records, but they don't have a category for smallest puppy.
In the past two weeks, the team of Beyonce and The Grace Foundation, brought the plight of rescue animals out in the open. Beyonce is now an ambassador for homeless and shelter dogs and cats all over the world.

I hope they keep him far away from the camera crew, unlike that earless(?) bunny the other month.
Very sweet looking little dog, although I wish they hadn’t picked that stupid celebrity name for her.
All three of our dogs at the moment are rescue dogs. A shepherd/bloodhound mix, a mistreated and abandoned bassett, and a border colley/something mix. They’ve all worked out very well in their different ways.
Thank you for the update on Beyonce, OV! If you didn’t already, I pinged Joe.
So tiny!
Here’s one of a number of links. Can’t remember where I saw it first.

So this microscopic dog will be eventually placed with a child?
Wouldn’t this dog be far better off in a quiet adult home?
I believe the story eludes to the idea that they are not going to adopt him out. The pup will be living with them permanently as their mascot.
Understandable...I sure wouldn’t be able to give her away!
Thanks for the puppy ping!
If my daughter sees it, she will be begging me to get her one......
Awwwww....:o])
Check the local pound. Small dogs go fast, but there may be one that is just right for the Other Sionnsareen.
*hugs*
Cute little thing, but it wouldn’t last an hour here. Greyhounds are the thing!
Does anybody know what breed of dog this is? Truly a survival story and aptly named.
The mother was found abandoned while pregnant, and they know the mother is a Dachshund mix, they just have no idea what bread the father, or the mix part of the mother is.
