Former “CBS Evening News” anchor Dan Rather says presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has a 50 percent chance of beating President Barack Obama in November.

“I have no idea what kind of president [former Massachusetts] Gov. Romney will make, but I do think … he has a good chance of becoming president,” Rather told Politico. “President Obama is even money at best at this particular time … His odds right now are 50/50 in my book.”

Obama performs much better campaigning than as president, said Rather, who is promoting a new book, “Rather Outspoken: My Life In the News.” Obama must recapture his skills of engagement and persuasiveness that served him so well in 2008, if he wants to succeed again, Rather said. …

Dan I’d Rather not. 50% chance coming from a left wing socialist democrat. Means 100% obama is going down in November.

I might vote for 0bama so we can just get it over with. I can’t see prolonging the agony with Romney in the White House. Get ‘er done, I say.

"Obama performs much better campaigning than as president, said Rather"

Ouch, that's got to hurt the Kenyan!

What have you been sampling, Dan? Whatever it is, it must be some powerful stuff.

Dan went on to say his odds are fake but accurate.

If Dan is admitting it’s a 50/50 chance for Romney, he actually now expects Obama to lose in a landslide.

Your a man who takes responsiblilty for his actions. A stand up guy. Others prefer the cowards way out, so when Obama wins, they will refuse to take responsiblity. They will vote for a nut job third party candidate or just leave the ballot blank. Then say it wasn’t their fault.

Dan Rather calling it 50/50....?

That means Romney sweeps 48 states, more like 90/10.

This election is the same as a choice a man with cancer might make. Does he take the recommended treatments, as painful as they are, which might or might not buy time, do nothing, or do himself in? Voting for Obama is the third choice. Not voting is the second.

The Republic has cancer. We are the patients. That's our choice. Unfortunately, I will probably take the chemo.

Another Freeper suggested we have two cans of poisen. One 50% full, the other 40% full. Either can is more than enough to kill ya’.

You go first, gusty.

I respectively reject your premise. I do not see voting for the GOP nominee as being poison. I live in the real world, with real world responsibilities. I do not have time to engage in wistful fantasies. If my candidate wins, and all I get is a pro-business President, I'm cool.

I said I would vote for Obama just to see what responses I would get.

A lot of Freepers who will not vote for Romney get all bent out of shape when someone says they will vote for 0bama.

“If my candidate wins, and all I get is a pro-business President, I’m cool.”

Newt was/is my preference, but there is at least the possibility that Romney would be pro-business. Is there any possibility O’Communist will be pro-business? HAHAHAHA....
