A 9-foot alligator bit a man on his left knee, officials saidA man was bitten and dragged by an alligator when he attempted to retrieve his golf ball from the water in Winter Haven, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
Albert Miller, 75, is recovering from his injuries after an alligator lunged out of a pond, bit his left knee and dragged him into the water on April 25, the release said.
He lifted me up three feet and slammed me down, Miller told The Ledger, referring to the nine-foot alligator.
Millers friends, who were playing golf with him at a country club, ran toward Miller and were able to pull him out of the water as the alligator thrashed around, The Ledger reported.
Miller was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, the report said.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said they quickly caught the alligator.
So that’s a water hazard, right?
You know, of course, that alligators place golf balls out near water courses to lure golfers in close enough so the alligator may make just such a grab.
Kind of like a man hiding in a duck blind at a marsh, or in a tree platform above a deer trail. The quarry just comes into your sights, then POW! Payday.
Just be glad alligators don’t have guns.
That where the saying, “it’s a gimme”, comes from.
Two-stroke penalty and a drop, bub. No exceptions. Now quit yer arterial bleeding or we’re gonna have to let the next foursome play through.
The grammar in the article is a little unclear. Was it the man’s golf ball or the alligator’s?
Another day another “alligator bites man story.”
You better hit the ball straight on that course.
YIKES! We have a pond and a creek with alligators in it, I am telling everyone who fishes in it!
Sssssshhhhhhh! Here comes another sucker.
