HOLLYWOOD (CBS) — Scarlett Johansson received the 2,470th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday, two days before the release of her latest film, the expected box office blockbuster “The Avengers,” in which she will reprise the role of Black Widow she played in “Iron Man 2″ in 2010.

Her co-star in “The Avengers,” Jeremy Renner, was among those joining Johansson at the ceremony in front of Madame Tussauds wax museum on Hollywood Boulevard.

“When I was told I was getting this star, I thought to myself, man, I really made it to the big time,” Johansson said. “You know, no matter what happens from here on out, I made my mark, I’m here to stay, and my family for generations to come will always be able to visit me right here, always. What a deeply, deeply touching gift.”

Born Nov. 22, 1984, in New York City, Johansson made her professional acting debut when she was 8 years old in an off-Broadway production of “Sophistry.” She also appeared in a sketch on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” when she was 8. She made her film debut playing John Ritter’s daughter in the 1994 fantasy comedy “North.”

Johansson’s other early credits include “Manny & Lo,” which brought her an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best female lead; “The Horse Whisperer,” portraying a teenager traumatized by a riding accident; and “Ghost World.”

Johansson received the first two of her four Golden Globe award nominations in 2003 for her performances in “Girl With a Pearl Earring” and “Lost in Translation.” She received additional Golden Globe nominations in 2004 for “A Love Song for Bobby Long” and 2005 for “Match Point.”

Johansson’s other film credits include “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” “The Other Boleyn Girl,” “We Bought A Zoo,” “He’s Just Not That Into You” and “The Island.”

Johansson won a Tony Award as best featured actress in a play in 2010 for her Broadway debut in “A View From the Bridge.”

Magazines including Maxim, Men’s Health, Esquire, Playboy and GQ, have dubbed her — among other titles — “Sexiest Woman Alive,” “Hot 100,” “Sexiest Celebrity” and “Babe of the Year.”

She was married to actor Ryan Reynolds — formerly People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” — from 2008-2010

Baloney. They’re not gifts. She paid for it. The fee is 30 thousand dollars.

Gorgeous ta-tas...but her performance in “avengers” was not so great. She peaked in “lost in translation” with Bill Murray.

I disagree. I think she was a little too plump in avengers.

She must have some talent if she was on Broadway and won a Tony Award.

If you want to see Scarlett as the Black Widow in the Avengers movie, this is a great scene.

Question #1: Who is Scarlett Johansson?
Answer #1: A performer in a movie which just opened to near record box office. (That is important to the SoCal economy)

Question #2: Why should I care?
Answer# 2: That’s entirely up to you, sir.

Yes you are right now that I compare her to when she played in the movie “The Island”, even on Iron Man 2 she was thinner.

But its a healthy looking plump, in all honesty I would say a healthy normal plump compared to the anorexic standards most actors work towards.

I think the “stars” (or their agents, or somebody in the industry)pay for those things as a publicity thing.

That is correct. Getting a star on the Walk of Fame is not a "great honor" being bestowed on an actor or actress in recogition of their talent or contributions to the entertainment industry. Anyone can get one of these. All you need is the money to pay for it, and an agent who will set it up for you with the local officials.

Quite correct. Hollywood's divas and dorks are pretty much irrelevant to most folks except those in the Cult of Celebrity.

When a no talent, common looking skank like this gets a star, it pretty much turns the whole process into a no big deal thing.
