An amusing letter from former President Ronald Reagan in response to a 13-year-old boy's request for disaster relief funds to clean up his room is making the rounds again on social media, thanks to a blog writer.
Shaun Usher of Letters of Note tweeted the classic correspondence. Seventh-grader Andy Smith from Irmo, South Carolina, wrote Reagan in 1984: "Today my mother declared my bedroom a disaster area. I would like to request federal funds to hire a crew to clean up my room."...

If Obama had received such a request he would’ve turned it over to Michelle who would’ve immediately called Social Services to have this child removed from his parent’s house.
If Clinton had received a request he was would have sent an inquiry asking if the kid had a big sister in college.
The days when an adult was in charge.
Reagan was the last great conservative POTUS we had. My eyes get misty watching him speak.
Huh - when I read the letter I "heard" it in his voice.
Clinton would have phoned the home, to arrange a "meeting" with his mother. (It's not at all far fetched.)
I take it back: Clinton would have asked the kid to send him a photo of his mother and her phone number.
