Call your airline or email them and demand they inspect all airplanes and all parts for Chinese made fakes.
Ever wonder why the Air France jet 'fell' out of the sky?
Makes you wonder!

Reminds of the crap capacitors in LCD TVs. A few manufacturers got burned on that one (and plenty of consumers). Company I work for had a batch of control modules go to crap. Turns out it’s $00.69 part. I’ll bet anything it was Chinese.
The Air France plane crashed because the pilots flew it into a thunderstorm and then misunderstood what was happening and stalled the aircraft until it crashed. Maybe they were Chinese. Who knows?
There are numerous articles that say China is the source. Several point to a US News & World Report 2/21/2000 article but I have been unable to get to the article.
a horrible accident It went into the ocean upside down I believe. No one survived.
My understanding of that terrible incident was that a jackscrew, or something of the sort, was worn to the point that it just barely passed inspection. Instead of taking the safe route and replacing, it was left on the aircraft. No idea about the mfg of the part.
Cynthia Odee (sp?), a Bay Area conservative talk show contributor, was on that flight and I recall hearing Lee Rogers of KSFO rail against Alaska for their negligence.
You are right. I remembered that maintenance became the issue but I did not remember the details. Thanks!
