I haven’t followed boxing in ages and I never heard of him but dang, there were some tough events in his life.
***Boxer Johnny Tapia has reportedly died. ****
At least he didn’t debase himself by going into wrestling. (subtle reference to REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT).
May he rest in peace. His childhood was filled with so much trauma and tragedy... so sad.
Thanks, leapfrog.

There really were some tough things in his life. I’d not heard of him until we moved to Albuquerque. I know many boxers here were mentored and guided by him even though he couldn’t straighten out his own life.
I wonder what happened to him. The article makes it sound like he was alone at home when the police arrived. But I guess with the drug abuse history, it could have been anything.
