Didn't this President just stand up in front of our Veterans at the Wall in DC on Memorial Day and promise to look out for them?!!!!! My heart is breaking for this Brave Warrior who risked his life through two deployments and now he thinks that maybe he shouldn't tell people he served his country!!!!

SHAME ON AMERICA TODAY IF THIS IS NOT DENOUNCED BY EVERY AMERICAN BUT MOST ESPECIALLY THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF WHO THIS BRAVE YOUNG AMERCAN SERVED UNDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://news.yahoo.com/video/bostonwbz-15750588/mass-veteran-sues-anti-war-apartment-owner-alleges-discrimination-29556703.html

Where is this Peace Activist now that her President has a kill list, hiding out in her little apartment waging her own little pathetic war on the very brave Heroes who sacrificed to keep her safe! This is disgusting!!! Where is Obama, who just gave a big speech to our Veterans ensuring they will be treated right!!!!! Where is Holder to protect the rights of this Hero??!! Nowhere, of course, because under Obama’s Justice Dept only illegals and blacks with billy clubs garner his corrupt attention!

This is unbelievable! I called the Dept of Justice...202-514-2000, told the operator I was calling regarding discrimination against a Veteran, they passed me to the Civil Rights Division, Special Litigation Section and here is the message I got:

“Your voicemail determines whether we will call you back, in most cases, we will not call you back!”

Well we won't be calling you morons back on November 6th!

I encourage folks to pick up the phone and hear this bizarre message for yourself!!

This Veteran plans to sue! Good for him! Where is the American Legion, the VFW, and all those Veterans who heard Obama’s speech on Memorial Day at the wall?!

I tried to call the illustrious John Kerry, another hippie freak peace activist! You'll love this. You can't talk to anyone in his office either, you have to leave a message. Boy, these Democrats really no how to serve the people, don't they! 202-224-2742...same with his local office...617-565-8419...those are messages I don't expect returned!

So I called Scott Brown's office in DC, Alex in the DC office was very concerned and said she will get attention on this matter immediately. She took my number.
Senator Scott Brown : 202-224-4543

I reiterate my promise to vote out this shameful bunch on November 6th!!!!!

Please pick up your phone today and stick up for this Hero who served his country, risked his life, and now wants to put a roof over his head in the very country he could have died fighting to keep safe! Please fight for our Troops and Veterans who have fought for you!

Unless she has some other reason, a reason that is valid under the law, she must rent to him. The “I don’t respect his views” will never last long in court.

Ms. Roberts (the landlord) apparently not only dislikes soldiers, she's got the pompous thing down pat. From the Herald's story on this topic:

"“There was never any mention to Morgan that his being a veteran would impede his chances to rent from us. If anything, he was a victim of U.S. greed, and for that, I feel much empathy.”

I think the guy should give her a suggestion or two about where she can shove her empathy. Know whut I mean, Vern?

Does anyone else see the irony in Pacifists picking all kinds of legal/social fights?

Until we take war seriously the property owner has the right to discriminate in my opinion. Sorry.

There is no point fighting any war until we take it seriously. We should never enter a war until we are prepared to fight under WWII rules of war.

Despicable as that is, suing and winning will end up being yet another expansion of federal power via the Civil Rights Act. It would actually be better for vendors, tenants and neighbors who want to show support for the veteran to simply discriminate against this bozo until he relents.

All this talk about "rights" and "legalities" aside...I can remember a time, and not all that long ago, when someone discriminating against a Veteran like this was pretty much guaranteed an ass-whipping the next time they were seen in public.

Now I am not one to advocate any type of personal violence, far from it, but there are certain civilities and cultural aspects of respect for warriors that give a fundamental view of what a culture is really all about.

Sgt. Joel Morgan, 29, tried to rent a two-bedroom apartment in the Savin Hill section of Dorchester from 63-year-old Janice Roberts.

“Because of what you told me about the Iraq war… we are very adamant about our beliefs… it’s just not comfortable for us… and I’m sure now that you know this, it would not be comfortable for you,” Roberts said in a voicemail to Morgan.
“I would suggest you do the right thing and look for a place less politically active or controversial.”

This Vet only wanted to rent an apartment, with a little justice, he could wind up being the proud owner of an entire apartment complex.

As a landlord with a Veteran husband whose service sent him to Vietnam - I am torn on this one.

Landlords barely have any rights in MA.
If this apartment is a multi-family with the landlord living there- they do have some more rights to be more choosy.
They can choose not allow children, not rent to unmarried couples, not rent based on religious beliefs (which I guess technically this landlord is spouting).
But, if the apartment is not in the same building as the landlords residence - all bets are off....

This is how it should be handled. Make sure the other tenets and neighbors know what the landlord is doing.
