I just found it on YouTube - great song!
Me three. Gotta add at least one version of Summertime Blues, Nat King Coles Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer, and Bert Kampferts Swingin Safari, which seemed to be the only three records they owned at the swimming pool where I grew up.
I'm actually a few months younger than Rush. I believe Sgt.Pepper was released in early June, 1967, but the radio stations KRLA and KHJ were blasting the Southland with promos from the album in the last week of May with 50,00 watts.
Here is the song that topped the rhythm and blues charts on the day I was born:
Rocket 88--Jackie Brenston & the Delta Cats
A perfect summer time song.
“Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”!
Green Leaves of Summer - Brothers Four
Green Leaves of Summer - Brothers Four
I was trying to remember that classic!
Thank you, a great moody song.
When that came out in the summer of 1963 (if my memory is correct), I immediately knew that it would be a big, big hit. And it was.
I will be playing this at the moment of summer solstice, which this year will occur at 7:09pm EDT on Wednesday, June 20th.
Saturday in the Park - Chicago
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves

Allowing for my personal taste, I have added many of your suggestions to my list.
We’ll do this again next year.
