Me three. Gotta add at least one version of Summertime Blues, Nat King Coles Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer, and Bert Kampferts Swingin Safari, which seemed to be the only three records they owned at the swimming pool where I grew up.

That is one bullseye of a list! You must be the same age as me and Rush: born in 1951. Your list is the soundtrack to all that we witnessed that makes our nation so special in so many ways. And don’t forget Sgt Pepper came out the day school let out in 1967 to kick off THAT summer.

I'm actually a few months younger than Rush. I believe Sgt.Pepper was released in early June, 1967, but the radio stations KRLA and KHJ were blasting the Southland with promos from the album in the last week of May with 50,00 watts.

Here is the song that topped the rhythm and blues charts on the day I was born:

Rocket 88--Jackie Brenston & the Delta Cats

...Nat King Coles Lazy Hazy Crazy Days of Summer...

When that came out in the summer of 1963 (if my memory is correct), I immediately knew that it would be a big, big hit. And it was.

Summer, by War... a great summer song. A perfect song to crank up in a convertible as you cruise down the road on those glorious country roads. I love the extended album version. (Can be found on You Tube!)

Also, All Summer Long, by the Beach Boys!

Thanks to all for your suggestions, and especially to those who included links.

Allowing for my personal taste, I have added many of your suggestions to my list.

We’ll do this again next year.
