HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS!

This little beauty, along with a nice bag of goodies, came as a gift.

I'm going to start learning to sleep standing in a corner, I'm running out of space for a bed.

I, too, have a soft spot in my heart for the old SLR's. When I started using them, in 1969, the pentaprism and focal plane shutter were state of the art. I bought my Spotmatic in Japan while I was in hospital at Yokosuka - took some great shots with it if I say so myself. During my undergrad days I was working as a Research Assistant at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore. I had the use of a Nikon Photomic FTN, and later an F2. Also a humongous Polaroid copy camera with light table. I was working in the Nuclear Medicine Department making images of tumors and preparing illustrations for lectures, etc. Had many a great day with the F2, which I was allowed to take home every day. So much different today!

I always thought that the man who sends the most genetic material to the next generation wins.

“I’m going to start learning to sleep standing in a corner, I’m running out of space for a bed.”

One word: hammock.

I have two old SLR's and BOTH still work fine. One is a Minolta XD-11 (does double exposures has shutter and aperature priority modes) and the other is the XG-7 (aperature priority only) from the same company. I bought them in 1978 and 1980. I have 2 lenses. 50 mm F1.4 and 100 - 500 mm zoom F8. Have at least 30 filters. I used the one last summer on my vacation.

My new toy is the Nikon D7000 with the 18 - 200mm VR II F 3.5 lens plus a 35mm f1.8 lens for low light. One of the fastest focusing cameras on the market.

Men and their toys. Can I vent?

My husband had to built a 4 car shop behind our 2 1/2 detached garage (because 2 1/2 car space is not enough) for the hot rods he builds from scratch. He also hunts; which means bows, a safe the size of my car-not really, but huge and heads of dead animals. (which I made him move to his shop) . Of course there is always a new and better guns he has to have. He fishes so he has a boat, rods & reels and all the fixings. He is on USA hockey board as VP for the Midwest so he has books of rules, rosters, registration, books, trophies, ???.....plus hockey equipment. He has 4 computers for work, hockey, play....

I barely have room for my shoes. Ok, I feel better.

I heard there’s no more kodak film and no one left around to do the developing and [...]

There's still Kodak, Fuji, and maybe a few others (Ilford?) around. What you can't get any more is Kodachrome, a slide film (the recently discontinued Kodachrome traces its lineage back to the late 1930's).

I bought an Argus C3 from eBay a few years ago, as a representative of my first 35mm camera; Dad had more or less turned it over to me in the late 50's.

This latter-day C3 still had a roll of Kodachrome in it. A couple of years ago when the one remaining Kodachrome lab announced that they were shutting down that process, I sent the roll off to them. A couple weeks later I got it back undeveloped, with a note explaining that the sprocket holes were too torn up for them to run it through their processor. So we'll never know what was on that last roll.

Yes. And HO cars with the skinny tires. Johnny lightning makes friction cars and the bodies snap right on. You need skills to get the drift right. Not like those new magnet cars.

I heard on the radio that some company bought all of the flash cube polaroids and is selling them refurbished for $400.

“I always thought that the man who sends the most genetic material to the next generation wins.”

If true, the assorted, sordid trash in ‘Da Hood’ won.
