Delusion is a big problem with the green crowd

By Stephen Murgatroyd, Troy Media

The draft text for discussion at Rio +20 – the UN conference on sustainable development – makes clear that the summit itself is a waste of energy and time. Even the environmental non-government organizations attending it think so.

Jim Leape, international director-general of World Wildlife Fund, hoped that the document would be renegotiated: “It’s pathetic. It’s appalling. If this becomes the final text the last year has been a colossal waste of time.” Friends of the Earth are even stronger in their disapproval, calling the plans “an epic failure.”

None of this surprises anyone. A process by which representatives from 193 countries have to agree on every word, comma and full stop over several months of discussion is not likely to produce much of anything. Yet expectations are always high, especially when thousands of people are attending Rio +20 in the hope of transformative change coming from such a meeting.

Delusion takes many forms. But the core symptoms of delusion are clear for the green movement.

Here is a list

1) PERSISTENT BELIEF THAT SOME-THING SERIOUS IS HAPPENING.

This has occurred over the last five decades as we have moved through the threat of the ice age, global warming, climate change, climate disaster, man-made natural disaster (another delusion) and the threat of sea-level rise flooding coastal cities around the world.

(to be added – this post was published prematurely, accidentally hitting the publish button rather than the save button – readers are welcome to add examples to complete this story. Apologies – Anthony)

UPDATE: Here are recent examples provided by commenters, the one from Skiphill on David Roberts is one I had planned to use.

the author’s 1) to 6) are all much in evidence in the recent babblings of Dave Roberts of Grist.com to a TEDx event:

http://www.bishop-hill.net/blog/2012/6/19/dave-roberts-at-ted.html

The ravings about 6C or more increase in global temps as guaranteed by the “science” is one of the many delusional aspects of this guy’s outlook.

All one needs to do for an explanation of Al Gore’s mindset is to pump out a septic tank.

2) UNSHAKEABLE BELIEF IN AN AMAZING SERIES OF COINCIDENCES

such as “It’s not possible to find the remaining $700M that would cancel malaria from the planet, yet it’s realistic to think in a few years hundreds of billions of dollars will exchange hands going from rich to poor countries to lower CO2 emissions and to protect the poor from AGW’s nastier side” and “Having been faithful recorders of temperature variations for hundreds of years, suddenly tree rings start showing the “divergence problem” during the past 50 years

Excellent article. I love how the Vancouver Sun and The Province (another Vancouver mainstream rag) are leading the fight for sanity finally!!! It’s very refreshing to see journalists get it right on just about all the points finally. The tide has turned when the Main Stream Media finally get where the con job is.

Some of you might have seen this before but it’s such an awesome weather web site that I’m posting it yet again. Note that it provides forecasts from three or four different weather services. Nice. (Four in the USA, Three in Canada).

I'm not so sure Algore really, really buys this stuff.

I think he has passion for it but only because it's his vehicle for power (and maybe the WH, again). Yes, he's written some of his enviro-claptrap long before he met the grifter krinton (well, him and a ghostwriter) but that was only to establish himself as somebody with a razor-sharp mind and, yet, as someone who really and truly cares about us all. The late and great crusade grew out of this earlier shtick.

Algore is a poor little rich boy looking for his place in history. His mommy even reserved a place on the pantheon of family photos for when little Algore grew up and became President right alongside daddy's picture of himself with criminals and communist of all kinds. Algore Sr. (a corrupt whore if there ever was one) groomed the little wooden boy for a shot at the top slot. Unfortunately, his world came to an end when all the rat soldiers and horsemen (er, horsepersons) couldn't steal the election for him.

Boo-hooo. What to do?

So, Algore (after his breakdown and rehab) reinvented himself (not as Donna Brazile’s alpha male with the sausage stuffed in his pants) but as a towering intellectual colossus. Leftists once again fell over themselves to shower him with their version of wreaths and crowns. Still, Algore had to command the global stage and his ship seemed to be coming in with the enviro-agenda taking over from the shopworn antinuclear movement. Yes, the little wooden boy from Caney River stood on the threshold of eternity and shouted for our repentence and higher taxation.

But, Lo, the data was faked and the prophets were false.

Gone was the private jet. Gone was his energy sink of a home, and, finally, gone was his wife - free at last, thank God almighty she was free at last.

Now alone and friendless, Algore ponders reinventing himself once more. Hmmmm...maybe if he dyed his sking he could be black?

You are much closer to the truth than you realize. I worked with someone who had a friend who was working for Gore, after his loss in 2000 to Bush. After the dust settled and he regained some balance (he fumed for weeks after losing the Presidency) the Gore team gathered and looked over a number of “causes” that would keep him in the public eye, make sure he stayed relevant. Global Warming was selected as the best play, and it had nothing to do with his convictions or anything else.

Al Gore is an condescending ass and a dullard. A dope head for most of his life, who simply walked into the life his father built for him. His father went insane and Gore is following in his footsteps.

His wife escaped into alcohol for years and finally left, probably because he’s become impossible to live with.

Yeah, it all came out here on FR over the years. The MSM wouldn’t print it, but with leaks here and there and information began to flow once the net became accessible to all. No longer able to hide, the wannabe Emperors had best not prance around in their finery with pajama media on the job.

One can only hope Gore has lost big time so far in the carbon trading business and other investment vehicles based on what he so falsely believes to represent real science, as the whole scheme world wide slowly goes into a death spiral.

These lefties are pitiful excuses for human beings. But they also share an ideology that strives for central control over the lives and resources of everyone on the planet beginning with the West.

Although they attract useful idiots by scaring them half to death with their fairy tales, the answer to their purpose lies in the solutions they propose.

They brought in Western scientists, politicans and corporations with payoffs. They would pursue a carbon trading commodies market which would skim off wealth from the West’s economies for the billions and banksters, taxes and funding for the politicans, billions for ‘alternative’ engery tech companies and billions in research money.

The psychopaths like Ted Turner were turned on by dreams of total control over life and death - population control. Suddenly it was saintly to hate humanity and want them dead.
