The commercial starts with diver David Boudia climbing up the Burj Dubai, and jumping off, with his reflection shown as the way the 9/11 jumpers were, and then he hits the water, and others were following him in their dives, only that they lived and the crowd celebrates.
Oh good grief.
Your tin foil is on a little tight
It’s disturbing.
Don’t see the connection.
You”re reeeeeeally reaching to come to that conclusion
Should we outlaw gravity?
Interesting description and I think I’d probably come to the same conclusion if I had seen it before being blurbed.
You need to realize that this was 11 years ago, and some people on this site weren’t watching the live coverage of the people jumping from those buildings. Of course the media then virtually blacked out any reference to those events, since it helps Republicans (in their twisted minds).
...but I do remember, and it is way too vivid. The idea of seeing diving off your own building from above had to be EXACTLY what thousands of people experienced right before the collapse.
If this wasn’t designed to be ‘controversial’; then WHY have comments been ‘disabled’? Hmmmm..?
Reeeeeally? Where does a person jump from over 200 feet and survives into a 12 foot pool of water, and we are supposed to believe that a person can survive an over 2,000 foot dive into a 12 foot pool of water.
JMO, the parallels of the commercial are undeniable, except when you jump off a muslim building you survive.
I think one would have to go out of their way to be offended by this.
“If this wasnt designed to be controversial; then WHY have comments been disabled? Hmmmm..?”
Can’t argue that - I was just pointing out that some people here don’t have the background to understand the significance of seeing people jumping off of buildings has to others.
It’s sort of like being asked to register with the government if you’re Jewish. Sounds harmless enough...unless you know what comes next. Or registering your guns...
Plain Silly....nothing wrong with the commercial...enough with the insanity.
But yet you made the link, and basically refuse to acknowledge it, that is something called denial.
Well what can I say. Sorry for not being offended. I promise to try harder next time.
Actually you have it exactly backwards, if they want it to be controversial they keep comments ON, that way people can stir the controversy. You turn comments off when you want things to stand alone non-controversially. Someone will always find a way to misinterpret things.
Nah. Not at all.
No problem, but I bet you wouldn't be so cavalier to a jumpers family.
I bet in your parlance, 9/11 is so 11 years ago, and Pearl Harbor is so 71 years ago.
I’m not offended; but, I just don’t like it because of 9/11.
The height represents the number of dives he practiced for the Olympics.
I saw it for the first time last night and you are grasping at straws.
It has nothing to do with 911. Nothing.
That was a really good commercial and in no way made me thing of 911
So I guess he(David Boudia) is going to actually dive 2,000 feet into a 12 foot deep pool.
I guess not.
You are misinterpreting the commercial.
Come on, DallasBiff, I would lighten up a bit. I agree with SamAdams76’s post. It IS a stretch. I don’t think it is bad or silly that you made the connection, we all make connections to things in unconventional ways.
However, to say someone is in denial because they don’t see it that way is a bigger stretch, imo.
There were no other people;it was just Davin Boudia.
Watch the commercial again.
How am I misinterpreting a commercial where a diver dives from over 2000 feet into a 12 foot pool, and survives, and those who involuntarily jumped from appx. 1200 feet onto concrete and did not survive.
When is David Boudia actually going to dive from over 2000 feet into a 12 foot pool of water.
That is all I'm asking.
I don’t like it either.
How would I know?
I have a relative that was killed by a drunk driver but that doesn't mean I get all sanctimonious with people who make jokes about drinking and driving. I assume they didn't know about my relative and so they weren't trying to offend so I give them a pass.
There are a lot of reminders of 9/11 out there. Everytime I see a passenger plane flying low overhead, I get a little nervous (isn't it a little low to be flying in this area? is it off-course?). But I'm not calling for air travel to be banned.
It is usually liberals who are always looking to find something to be offended by and thus trying to make everybody around them walk on eggshells.
I'm not a "walk on eggshells" kind of guy.
So I am a liberal now for pointing out the disturbing simalarities between the Visa commercial of a diver who dives off a muslim building and survives, while those who involuntarily "dived" off a tall building(WTC) due to terrorism.
I'm surprised you didn't call me hitler.
Watch the commercial again.
8-12 divers join him after he hits the water.
He is not going to dive from over 2,000 feet into a 12 foot pool of water.
He made 25,000 practice dives in a year, which is like diving off the highest building in the world over 180 times.
Do you see what I’m getting at?
No one is falling into the pool with him or landing on concrete either.
Pay closer attention. I don’t know where you’re coming from.
Didn’t you listen to the narrator of the ad?
Isn't the voiceover by a Marxist ?
I already watched it three times.
There is no one else diving into the pool with him. It shows him going into the water multiple times because of the mulitple dives he made during practice.
It just seems like you are going out of your way to make a connection between this harmless diving commercial and the events of 9/11. Most other on this thread tend to agree that you are stretching here.
This is the kind of hypersensitivity that I see with liberals. Not that you are one, but maybe in this one case, you are acting like one. I know I'm veering off topic here but the main reason that many white people can't have a casual, friendly relationship with black people is because they are so afraid of offending them. White people have been made to feel like bigots for even the most innocent statements and have become so gun-shot over the whole business that they elect to simply walk on eggshells around them which makes a normal relationship impossible. Same with women in the workplace. I've seen careers ended over a simple incident that a woman took the wrong way (or decided to take the wrong way).
Seems that way too many people are way too busy looking for something to be offended by.
Actually, come to think of it, conservatives can do the same thing. For example, with the silliness over the Google Doodles. Every Veteran's Day, Pearl Harbor Day, Reagan's birthday, etc., it seems that some Freeper gets his panties all in a twist because Google didn't alter their doodle accordingly. I mean c'mon, that makes us look like a bunch of whining crybabies.
Harmless?? And, I think, an American diver dives over 2000 feet from a muslim building and survives into a 12 foot pool of water(which is not possible), and those who involuntarily "dived" to survive in the WTC on 9/11/2001 is not harmless.
The poster merely acknowledged YOU posted there was a connection. He or she went and watched it with that claim on their mind.
That is not denial except to someone with an ax to grind and that person is you.
Given what you wrote up thread about only surviving if you dive of a Muslim building, I think you need to walk away and examine yourself.
Many people here, myself for one, lost others on 9/11 whether at the trade center, Pentagon or on flights. Don't tell us how we feel, what we should have read into this ad or that ad or anything of the kind. Got it?
It has nothing to do with 911. Nothing.
And the showers have water at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
I still think you went off the deep end over this commercial. That seems to be the opinion of just about everybody else on this thread also. Why not just give it up and come in off of that limb that you are out on. We won’t hold it against you. Most of us have posted something stupid here at least once or twice.
Well I guess I'm in the league of Charlton Heston at a NRA convention, when he stated "from my dead cold hands".
I'd rather be in Charlton Heston's deep end than yours, which IMO, would be john roberts.
Charlton Heston died a few years ago so he couldn’t possibly have seen the commercial in question. So not sure why the reference?
Ah......Obama voters!
Please, Charlton Heston stated from a NRA covention, "from my cold dead hands" and from my cold dead hands will you get my retraction about this pro-muslim commercial(i.e an American diver diving off of burj dubai and surviving)
BTW, a question, whose deep end would rather be on, Charlton Heston's or john roberts's?
As to your question "which deep end I'd rather be on", I don't get the John Roberts reference either but I suspect you are trying to lay a trap with regard to a previous thread we were on. Again, doesn't have a whole lot of relevance here but I'd be happy to discuss John Roberts.

Sam Adams are you sometime guest host for Rush, mark davis, you talk in such inanities.
Well I’m not sure I’m getting invited back anytime soon. At least I still have the forum!
