This devastating photo tells the tragic story of a family dog, shot dead by a police officer as he pursued a robbery suspect on Sunday. Monkey got caught up in the chaos of a foot pursuit along Hodges Street in Lake Charles, Louisiana as officers chased teens believed to have beaten a man in a mall parking lot before stealing his car which they then abandoned. The dog was in a back yard on the street when she heard the commotion and ran out through an open gate.

Fair enough. Context is difficult to pick up when reading typed words.

I appreciate the link...the police have released their version.

I’m guessing Monkey was a mixed breed based on the pic. Temperments can be a sketchy thing with mixed breeds.

Not saying one way or the other, purely anecdotal based on my experiences. YMMV

I’m going to have to slap myself each time before I think about posting on cop shoots dog threads. They can get too emotionally charged.

FRegards,
SZ

So instead of debating the facts you want to ramble on about tv shows? Sad.

I notice that you still haven’t identified as a peasant, or as a member of Blue Gang. :-)

Cops in these settings should be trained to have pepper spray out and at the ready, not go for your gun.

Exactly!

Dolores says "Monkey" got out when the gate was left open in the chaos of the foot pursuit of suspects. "He was shooting down like this. Monkey wasn't jumping on him or anything.

Tens of thousands of mail carriers, meter readers etc, carry mace or pepper spray etc, and are able to quickly protect themselves on a daily basis all over this country.

Given this fact, why is it government police, have to shoot peoples pets to death, opening fire in neighborhoods full of kids and innocents?

different animal.. One is legal to own. One is not.

What if they shot your wife or you because you “looked” threatening?

The thing I like about threads like this are the way they bring out the Statists.

The Statists aren't able to envision a time when Americans weren't peasants under the boot of the government, or when small communities didn't have a dozen or two overpaid paramilitary occupying forces, just itching for an encounter with a "resisting" serf.

One of the Statists justified the felony animal cruelty by saying it was an "important chase", which apparently overrides the rights of any intervening peasants or their property.

No mention that the Police State created these types of petty criminals for its own benefit, with the national catch-and-release program, thus necessitating chases like these. We know what would have happened at the scene of the original beating, if the victim had Zimmermanned the three Obama-look-alike yutes.

The Law and the race pimps would have screamed in OUTRAGE at a peasant "taking The Law into his own hands!!!!".

After all, it's up to the professionals to pretend to enforce the law, so's they can keep that sweet stream of $40-an-hour pay and full retirement benefits at 52 coming...

It won't be long until pension reform, massive public employee layoffs and wage cuts hits in a big way. We're seeing some of that already.

Get ready to be entertained by the meltdowns among our statist friends.

Thanks Joe. I looked at this yesterday and it just brought tears to my eyes. We all think of our own dogs when we see something like this and I feel so sorry for that poor woman.

Your Embroidery hoop dog gif is so very neat!

Absolutely. You can see right through these people.

Opening up with firearms in a neighborhood full of kids and innocents over a dog, shooting to death people's pets, when mail carriers and meter readers have been able to routinely defend themselves with mace or pepper spray for many decades?

Be *extremely* suspect of those who suggest this type of government law enforcement tactics/behavior are credible and or somehow legitimate.

Do not trust these people.

Hey net,

I note that you have yet to receive a rational and legitimate response to your questions about utility and mail workers not having to shoot dogs.

I suspect it will be a while before you do.

Give me a break. You and your pals (at least on this thread) calling anyone “statist” who dares say it isn’t automatically NAZI when Cop X shoots Dog Y.

This case is different from the standard CSD (even if those are questionable until all facts are known), and you know it.

As to your insistence that this is the same as the given mailman, et al.

1st off, mail carriers, et al, aren’t RUNNING from the premises. Running triggers the prey instinct and stirs suspicion in the territorial dog’s mind. This cop was running near/on the property when the dog was chasing the crook. How many visitors, mailmen, meter readers, etc are running either to, by, or from the property? The dog was already geared up by the scum in his yard, then apparently distracted by another running stranger as well.

2nd, people (including those who cry about all the scum in the world getting shot) seem to think it’s easy MID-CHASE to carry several different kinds of weapons and pick out each 1 without screwing that up. What makes you think while you’re running you can easily think about and grab the right “mace”? Would be nice, but that’s unreasonable to expect.

3rd, what happens if he doesn’t shoot? At best, gets slowed down, or knocked over, stopped from chasing? Maybe not the biggest problem in the world, but that leads to the next issue.

As to “important” - yes, damn right I say getting scum like this who beat up a man and stole his car is important. Miss it now, that little scum will never get his. That is a huge problem in this country - low-life “urban” scum getting violent and taking things that they didn’t earn.

It’s unfortunate and terribly tragic, but it’s not shocking the dog got hurt. Hell, he could’ve gotten run over by a car - what then? Angry at the driver?

Put the blame for this ACCIDENT where it belongs - on the scum-sucking car-jackers. They are the 1s who opened the gate.

Otherwise is just as I said elsewhere - blaming the US Gov for 9/11 rather than the foreign Moslem scum who executed it.

And the behavior on these threads is just like the uprisings over Trayvon Martin. Assuming all is wrong with 1 side, and all right with the other.

(In this case, there is no fault as I see with the owner/guardian, but it’s the principle.)

Nope, I got it right there.

I had too much to do yesterday to bother with arguing here.

It has nothing to do with no solid argument. “Rational” and “legitimate” - huh. As rational so many dogs-uber-alles are as Trayvon supporters.
