Brigitte Bardot Supports Renegade Cow
The Local ^ | 12 Jul 2012

A cow has escaped a slaughterhouse in the Alps and has been on the run since last week. Brigitte Bardot's animal welfare foundation says it wants to give the renegade cow a home.

Ten days after her escape, the renegade cow has yet to be found. On July 2nd, the cow was being herded into a slaughterhouse in Bonneville, in the Alps, when it bolted at death’s door and fled staff.

French police have unsuccessfully combed the area around the slaughterhouse to find her.

On the internet, many people have rallied in support of the cow in recent days, calling for her life to be spared, daily Le Parisien reports.

"I think this cow is a symbol. She shows that animals have emotions, a conscience. She fled because she knew she was going to die. Today we should fight for her, to save her," web-user Stéphanie writes online.

"There would be no point in killing her anyway. Her meat can no longer be sold because she has escaped the traditional farming processes," adds Sébastien, according to Le Parisien.

The Brigitte Bardot Foundation, which campaigns for animal rights, has responded to these calls and says it would like to take care of the renegade cow. It says it has a field in Normandy that could welcome the cow.

No doubt this cow’s cause will also be taken up by PETA. But it sounds more like a commercial for Chik Fil-A to me. ;-)

I am pretty much supporting renegades of all stripes against commie oppressive governments. Go Cows!

And seriously, if the cow can’t be used for food anymore, why the hell not if someone wants to take care of it with their own agency funds?

I wish more people exhibited this kind of behavior against their frickin big brother, where’s your papers, we will do this to you and you will like it, TSA rapist molesters, government overlords.

The woman is 77 years old and while I don't 100% agree with her obsessions I do respect the fact that she apparently allowed herself to grow old like a normal human. No plastic. But just to put things in perspective, this is why in the early sixties thoughts of her accelerated the puberty of a lot of boys my age. Brigitte Bardot, 1962.

Oh, and it’s worth adding. She love animals but hates the Islamic takeover of France and has been fined multiple time by the Vrai Politique de la France for saying naughty things about Muslims. Some things are more important than others.

Renegade cow?

Sounds like prime fodder for a Dave Barry column.

I’m with Bardot. I’ve got to respect a cow that bucks the herd mentality.

I admire Bridgitte. She established an animal care facility to care for and prevent cruelty to animals- investing millions of her own funds into it.

She also has gone to jail and had been fined numerous times for speaking out against Islam in France.
