Ashley Moser, 25, was in a critical condition after the shooting and was unaware that her daughter Veronica Moser-Sullivan was among the 12 people who lost their lives when Holmes opened fire during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises on Friday. As she drifted in and out of consciousness, her family could not bring themselves to say that her daughter had been killed for fear it would worsen her own condition. Yet despite Miss Moser's serious injuries to her neck and abdomen, which are expected to leave her paralysed, her unborn child is reportedly healthy.

Terrible......Whenever I have a hard day I will think about this woman and realize how lucky I am.
Why was a SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL AT the MIDNIGHT SHOWING of a violent, scary movie?
Why was a SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL AT a MIDNIGHT SHOWING, period?
Well, because the parents could not afford a babysitter.
Parents could not find a babysitter for a week night.
Parents are stupid.
Where was "daddy?"
That innocent little girl was murdered.
Many circumstances created a perfect storm. The victims were murdered and/or injured in the event. If she would not have been there with her under aged children, if the murderer would have picked a different theater, if someone would have shot or stopped him, if people would have recognized the threat earlier. Life is full of ifs, but dealing with the hand that is given is everyone’s responsibility.
well if it's going to be asked where was daddy, then it's also fair game to ask why another certain daddy was there also? There was one victim hailed as a hero-in-death for protecting his girlfriend -- a Jon B...yet I can't help wonder how many times his two kids asked Jon B's estranged wife, "Where's Daddy?" "Daddy" -- Jon B. -- was out of town {reno}...out of state...and didn't bother getting a divorce before dating. Who knows if he would have been there had he NOT chosen it as a date location while still married to another...and had he at least chosen to remain closer to his children he would have been in nevada or the tahoe area...
I know I shouldn't be, but I am still surprised that children are permitted into R rated movies - even with their parents, and midnight!!!
I'd ask what these people are thinking of but then I'd realize that is the problem, they aren't thinking (at least of their children.)
I'm not trying to make folks feel bad, many people will question the mother's actions. I'm selfish, I start thinking about myself and I come apart real quick. What if that were me, my daughter?
Amen, “there but God’s grace.....”
Man, I was in bed at 7:30 pm when I was six, every school night, 9 pm Friday Saturday. My folks never took me anywhere at midnight. They were in bed before midnight, dad and mom got up early too.
You have personal responsibility for your own safety. People should not have to live in fear for their safety. It is not the responsibility of the government, the theater/business owner, the gun manufacturer, the ammo manufacturer or the police/fire personnel to ensure your safety. It makes me sick to think that in the interest of trying to protect people from jackals like this shooter, that many people think that taking guns away from the law-abiding makes everyone safer. Don’t come apart; learn how to defend yourself and those under your mantle of protection. If more people thought like this, jackals would start to become an endangered species. If the shooter thought for one minute that maybe someone would have been capable of stopping him, do you think he would have targeted a crowded theater? He was surprised at how fast the police response was. Learn how to protect yourself with whatever ‘rescue equipment/knowledge’ you are willing to use and don’t live in fear. Heck, shining a bright flashlight in the eyes of this shooter may have saved some lives by allowing some people to escape the theater before being shot.
I am well armed and well trained.
Ashley is pregnant with her second child. Jamison Toews is Ashleys boyfriend of two years. He is the father of their unborn child.
Just keep fighting, baby. I love you. I just want to be by your side, said Toews.
The couple saw the babys ultrasound picture just hours before the shooting changed their lives forever.
Until recently, Ashley and her only child, Veronica, lived with her father, David Moser. They were a close family but just two months ago, Veronica’s grandfather, David Moser, 65, died after a long battle with leukemia.
Her fathers death crushed Veronica, said Mosers aunt, Annie Dalton. Her fathers illness also drained family resources; left them all penniless when her father died.
Ashley and Veronica then moved in with an uncle, which is where they were living when they decided to go to the AMC Theater Century 16 in Aurora, Colorado.
Ashley did not have an easy life, her aunt said.
“Ashley struggled a lot,” Dalton said.
However, Ashley was getting her life in order, had taken classes to enter a nursing program, wishing to earn a degree as a licensed practical nurse, the kind of nurse who cares for the sick, injured or disabled. Ashley had been accepted into a nursing program and was living off student loan money because she didn’t have a job.
The gunman killed Veronica; Ashley caught a bullet to the neck. Dalton said she is paralyzed.
Dalton said that despite her niece’s extensive injuries, Ashley’s health appears to be improving. She is awake and talking now, Dalton said on Sunday.
For the family, this means more traumas, of course, but also mounting medical bills. Dalton said she believes that Ashley is on Medicaid, but money will be tight with additional bills and Veronicas funeral.
