Mitt Romney strongly denied Sen. Harry Reid's repeated, insistent claims that he did not pay taxes for a decade, he said he pay's a lot of taxes every year.
Let's look at the rumors about Harry.

First the Obama / Chicago machine has a history of digging up and making up dirt on opponents. Remember Jack Ryan? He was the best and successful candidate for the GOP slot against Obama in 2004 until a California Judge decided that it was in the "public interest" to unseal his 1999 divorce records with Jeri Ryan (ST:Voyager 7of9) where her accusations could not be refuted. Jack Ryan withdrew from the race replaced by Alan Keyes and Obama became a US Senator.
So this accusation is a blatant attempt to have Romney do "opposition research" upon himself. If he gives up tax return(s), then there is a lot of data to be spun, especially for class warfare attacks. If he doesn't then they keep attacking his 'secrets' and what he is hiding.
For the Obama machine this is a "heads I win, tails you lose" scenario so long as the media and pundits think it is newsworthy. As for the morality of this, it is merely "Chicago Values", right? Harry Reid probably does not see any difference from his Las Vegas Values and his boxer's instinct for a "sucker punch" feels right to him.
He's actually mentioned elsewhere on a thread of interest to Freepers today. So if you discover that thread later on it's not a koinkydink that I"m mentioning him.
I"ve suspected for many years that it was Harry Reid who did the deed, or had it done, just to embarrass then Governor Jon Huntsman!

Ever notice? Every time a Democrat makes a charge against a Republican, if we wait a week or two we learn; that Democrat or some protected other Crat is quilty of it or worse. Always dependable. They can’t help it.

Harry Ried very wisely made his charges on the floor of the senate. Had the statements not been made there, he would have been liable for a very large lawsuit... but making the charges on HIS senate floor, he cannot be sued. Even though he is holding up at least thirty bills from passage, he does know the constitution.... and uses it to his advantage. How does this guy get reelected? (Corruption)sarc.
There are enough sinister things about Harry Reid to report without making up anything, but the facts never seem to get out there. People seem to believe a lie before the truth every time.
Some of the democrats pandering might be hurt if Harry’s quotes made it to the news.
