A new article in Allure magazine is so sweet it will make you shed tears of joy! Chocolate can protect you from skin cancer!

It turns out chocolate doesn’t just provide comfort on a rough day — a new study reports that chocolate helps protect against UV rays. Better yet, this isn’t a matter of slathering chocolate fondue all over your body.

The Journal of Nutrition reports that the superfood contains antioxidants epicatechin and catechin that shield skin from the sun- only when you eat it. Women who consumed 326 milligrams of high-flavanol cocoa per day for 12 weeks had decreased sensitivity to UV light versus the participants who ingested just 27 milligrams per day.

There is no ill or malady that a Snickers bar can’t cure. To deny that fact is to deny reallity itself. I hope I haven’t overstated anything here!!!

No argument from me!

When I consumed candy bars....I always thought the peanuts in a Snickers tasted stale....so I avoided them. Preferred Milky Way...to each their own. :P

Pure dark chocolate like Dagoba 74% or Theo 70% are nearly perfect. Maybe they are perfect.

They are. Much over that, ick! The 94% is like baker's chocolate.

Myself, I live by 3 little words.

Dove

dark

chocolate.

YUM!

Admittedly, I've been hooked/spolied on Belgian chocolate.....until I discovered Champlain Chocolate and the especially divine *Aztec* spiced with pepitas. No other word but *divine*. :P

Looks familiar, I think I have tried another in their line of chocolates, they are good...

But, Oh no, another freerepublic food thread that will go 300 post, increase our waistline, have people drooling on their keyboards and eventually get to ribs, pork, all meats and eventually the gateway drug for vegetarians bacon.

Now tie that in with chocolate covered bacon and I predict 500 post..:-)

I am a Chocoholic! I've probably had chocolate every day for the last 40+ years.

I have also had nonmalignant skin cancer removed from my face.

Don't believe everything you hear!
