Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Wow. I didn’t know that one existed.
Damn, that dude WANTS freedom.

He must’ve worn dark pants on purpose...doesn’t show the urine stains as bad as light colors.

Never really paid much attention to the one of LBJ being sworn in with Jackie at his side. I didn’t know she was still covered in her husband’s blood when it was taken.

Did you see the picture taken right after where LBJ was laughing as well as several Senators right behind him and Jackio O was still standing right there.. Weird.

I just googled it.... One came up with LBJ smiling and a senator winking at him.

I recently watched a quirky documentary called Smash His Camera about Ron Galella who was among the early paparazzi. He’s an interesting character, but he hounded Jackie and her kids mercilessly to the point where she won a suit to keep him at bay.

Anyway, it must have been difficult for her to keep her composure as she did while going through the transition with LBJ.

No kids please. Especially dead ones or crying ones.

This one always gets to me:

Pearl Harbor survivor Houston James of Dallas is overcome with emotion as he embraces Marine Staff Sgt. Mark Graunke Jr. during the Dallas Veterans Day Commemoration at Dallas City Hall in 2005. Sgt Graunke, who was a member of a Marine ordnance-disposal team, lost a hand, leg, and eye while defusing a bomb in Iraq in July of 2004.

Jackie was asked why she didn’t change her clothes, had on the same when his body was taken off the plane...such a sweet woman /s she said she wanted everyone to see what they did to her husband, as if we wouldn’t know without her bloody clothes...

dogs are amazing...we were given a dog from one of the guys my husband worked with. About a year and a half later they came to visit Mugzie. When they came in the kids were kinda disappointment cause they figured the dog would greet them. It was like she forgot about the previous owners...it took about 20 minutes then she remembered them and was all over them, giving lots of kisses...the kids were happy as white on rice that she finally remembered them...It just took a while for her to remember...All the pictures I have seen of soldiers and their dogs brings a lump in the throat....

There are too many people that don't deserve a dog by the way they treat them...

Here are some that I'll always remember.

Chief Petty Officer Graham Jackson was scheduled to play his accordion for President Franklin Roosevelt's enjoyment on April 12, 1945. Instead he played "Going Home" as the President's body was escorted away from the Little White House in Warm Springs, Ga.

A Date Which Will Live In Infamy. 1,177 lives were lost when the battleship Arizona exploded during the Pearl Harbor Attack; almost half of the 2,403 killed that day.

Having just gotten home from work, I was asleep when the attack started. My mom woke me up and I turned on the TV just seconds before the second plane hit.

Into The Valley Of Death. Ladder 118 and her six-man crew race across the Brooklyn Bridge just minutes after the second plane hit the World Trade Center. Sadly, all six men would lose their lives that day.

President Reagan less than a second before the madman Hinckley opened fire.

USS Cole limps out of the Port of Aden, Yemen after being struck by a small boat laden with explosives. Seventeen sailors lost their lives that day.

The 2011 Japan Tsunami.

Not a big fan of the Kennedy clan... But.. You sit next to your husband when his brain are blown out, much of it splattering on you; just how well are you going to handle it?

All things considered - I’ll cut her some slack.

I noticed that one of them repeats the Mohammed al-Dura lies. Whoever said that the camera doesn’t lie was crazy.

central...just a note about that second photo you posted of Ike with members of the 101st.

The trooper with the sign saying number 23 was of John McGuire. He survived the war, and died when he was in his 70's. He was a die hard Republican.

My sister attended his funeral, where he was piped home along with a flyover.

He left my sister a large poster of that photo that hangs in her home.

The photo that always gets to me, is one posted at FR quite often. It shows a young boy receiving the flag from his fathers coffin from a marine.

I can't look at it without tears.
