What If ‘A Majority of Americans Support Slavery’?

Almost three-quarters of New York voters favor a tax on millionaires, a poll found, days after several hundred people marched to the homes of some of New York City’s richest financiers to protest economic inequality.

Support for taxing wealthier people breached party lines, with 83% of Democrats and 55% of Republicans in favor, according to the Siena College Research Institute poll released Monday. A separate poll released by Quinnipiac University showed New York City voters support an extension of the tax by 61% to 28% percent, with Republicans favoring it by 55% to 38%.

Let’s go back 160 years and conduct a similar poll among non-slaves. “Do you believe that we should keep existing laws regarding slavery?” I’m sure the Occupy Movement, Democrats, some Republicans, and union members would object to the claim that there’s moral (or immoral) equivalence in slavery and taxation. But a slave owner benefits from the labor of the slave in the same way that people who believe it is right to tax the rich at a higher rate benefit from the labor and property of others that is not their own.

IMHO, between 40% to 46% already do support slavery.

Paying taxes to support those who don’t IS slavery

That why we are a Republic, not a Democracy.

Such questions illustrate that our Founders, unlike today’s Teachers’ Union excremental end product, understood the difference between a Republic and a Democracy and why on a large scale the latter invariably leads to mob rule followed immediately by some sort of homicidal dictatorship. In a Republican system like ours it take far more than a “majority” to effect meaningful change.

Nowdays, we just pass it, “deem” it passed, then find out what’s in it.

Use the poor as food for cattle. (Sorry, just joking.)

lesson:

if you’re in the top 5% of earners... do not live in NY, MA, CA, or any democrat controlled state.

if you can, i’d also recommend going Galt. it hurts the administration in the only way they listen to. everyone can go Galt to some extent... just minimize your spending as much as you can.

This is where the Left totally ignore’s the MORAL problem with Slavery that was brought forth by Christians in England and the US; and also those who used the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution and the arguments to abolish slavery that were made when both were being written.

It was moral outrage based upon Christianity that lead the abolition movement and kept it going, NOT secular polling data and ‘feel goodism”.

Absolutely correct! And that is why attempts by the homo lobby to equate it to the civil rights struggle will fail dismally. Racial equality is based on biblical principles of equity and equality in God's sight. Homosexuality is based on the choice of sin, which the Bible and God expressly reject.

There IS no moral dimension to the homosexual movement.

Not to sidetrack the thread ...

Lincoln only ended slavery by private parties. Slavery imposed by the government is still going strong.

What if a majority of Americans support slavery.

Natural rights such as liberty are God-given and have primacy over the will of the majority. In a free society, when self defense or the process of justice is not involved, the will of the majority is not a justification for the use of force to violate an innocent individual's natural rights.

In the 1930’s, survey showed that a majority of Americans supported sending all black people to Africa and all Jews back to Palestine.

Good thing that we have a constitutional democratic republic (for now, anyway, or at least, it looks like one). Otherwise, I would be writing this in German, if at all.

They already do.
And it's working perfectly, thankyouverymuch.

If you add federal employees to the parasites who pay no income taxes and live off the Obama-stash, they are clearly the majority.

And they define what the "fair share" is for the rest of us.

Slavery by another name.

If a majority support slavery, then maybe it's time to quit voting for liberals. Support Tom Hoefling for President.
