Regarding Connecticut&New Mexico Leaning Tossup. What Are The Explanations?

Posted on 08/20/2012 6:32:56 PM PDT by Ryan_Rubio_2016

Could Connecticut and New Mexico going from "Obama" to "Lean Obama" become a sign of things to come? What has happened in a blue New England state may hopefully be a new trend going into November. Maybe Connecticut turning purple is primarily due to the number of "Wall Street" residents living there and knowing what will happen to their fortunes or incomes if Obama is re-elected. Hopefully the trend will continue in September when New Jersey, Nevada and Minnesota turn purple giving Obama more states to worry about and less money and time to campaign in.

You know, some people have said that Obama was not above starting a war before the Election. But, I don’t think that would help his Election chances. As you said, the leftist a-holes would not get excited about turning out to vote for him; and this Election is so close, turn-out is key. And the people who hate Obama wouldn’t vote for him if he single-handedly whooped Iran.

Not all Connecticut Nutmeggers are democrats.

My little town has been Republican for years. Only twice in my lifetime, I’m in the fifty’s nifty club, has a democrat been elected first selectman. And both times, the town went bak to republican leadership after one term.

Don’t judge the whole state by the few, albeit big, sewers in the state.

if Romney can get out close to 100% of the LDS vote, which he will, then he wins Nevada.

There are also a gazillion LDS church members in Colorado. I’ve felt all along that the Mormons in America will mobilize for Romney. That’s about 4-5 million foot soldiers; eh?

Hi I have lived in CT for 18 year’s. I can’t believe how bad the state has become because of the unions power over everything.
I will vote for Linda McMahon because that vote is better than a union vote.
I am not concerned about how much Linda spends, its her money not our’s which us what the union money is with all Obama money from the stimulus $$.

O.k. How about two more reasons? Romney's Morman connections give him a great organisation in the western mountain states including New Mexico. His power base in Massechusetts gives him pull with the Connecticut electorate.

I would love too but I can't make it back just yet. I am in a good position to help the country from my home in central Florida. Senator Len Suzio is a good man and he knows most of the conservative activists in the state. Give him a call. He will be able to tell you where you are needed most.

I have a relative who is very high up on the corporate ladder of a global chain you’ve certainly heard of. He lives in a rich area of Connecticut. It’s the kind of town where you’ll get pulled over by the local police force if your car is over 5 years old.

I was recently at his house for a party and overheard some of his friends talking politics. I heard at least three different people - all from this same “class” of people - say for the first time they are going to vote Republican. They were saying it like they were teenagers sneaking out of the house at night for the first time and I believed it when I heard them.

These folks aren’t dumb with their money. After 3+ years of Obama attacking “the rich”, “the rich” have gotten the message. The conversations I overheard - and the polls discussed here - are the reprecussions. I suspect this is represented in the polls showing CT as a toss up.

Remember that Obama is pro regionalization. The people of Connecticut will go to war over that.

Can you please explain what "regionalization" is? Haven't heard that term used in a political context. Didn't know it was a hot issue anywhere.

I believe it will be closer than the Obama campaign thinks and they will ave to spend money to win it.

I think Romney has a decent chance of winning. The cities will go for Obama and the suburbs will go for Romney. It will come down to how many voters turn out in each area. If it's a real close race the democrats will steal it like they did for Malloy in Bridgeport. I've been traveling up and down the Western half of the state and I have come across one or two Obama bumper stickers and signs. There is no enthusiasm that I can see. The people who are motivated are the ones who want Obama out of the white house.

Good question justice seeker. It is not a hot issue in Connecticut it is a settled issue. The left lost this one. When I was a young boy in the early 70s I would hear my parents discuss how they saved and worked hard to purchase a house in the suburbs of New Haven Ct. My dad was a young school teacher and he knew the schools in the city were going down hill fast due to leftist governance. He worked three jobs so we could live outside the city in a conservative run town with a conservative run school. Besides the crime rate in the city was sky high and the riots of 69 and 70 were still fresh on everyone’s minds. When the State announced that my siblings and I would be bused back into New Haven you would have thought it was Lexington and Concord. The politicians backed down immediately and the insurrection was over. Obamas leftist mentors engineered forced busing (regionalisation) as part of their plans. Obama has been quietly resurrecting those plans.
