Drought Relief with TS/Hurricane Isaac
Weather Predictions on TS/Hurricane Isaac | August 27, 2012 | Vanity

Posted on 08/26/2012 10:26:20 PM PDT by topher

The National Weathe Service (at this time) is forecasting that Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac may be tropical depression as it enters Missouri/Tennessee.

This may be very good news in terms of the drought.

Sections of the Mississippi River has been shut down on account of the lack of water.

It is possible that this storm system might into the Ohio Valley or even the Upper Mississippi River Valley.

It is possible to draw moisture from the Gulf of Mexico/Tropics.

This may not help farmers this year. But it is possible that this might help fill reservoirs for some towns and cities that badly need rain.

Possibly East Texas might even benefit from the rains that Isaac might bring. People in Texas would give these rains a big Texas welcome.

Many people are dwelling on the negatives of this storm:

(1) Impacting the Republican Convention

(2) Possible (and at this point, it is only a possiblity) Category 3 storm hitting New Orleans.

(3) Shutting down the Offshore Oil Industry in the Gulf of Mexico.

This storm might help to re-open parts of the Mississippi.

Of course, on the other hand, Hurricane Katrina (7 years ago) shut down the Mississippi River and required the US Navy to use Minesweepers to clear parts of the Mississippi River...

Hopefully the storm brings some much needed rain without causing much damage. My family are timber farmers and we have suffered during the bad economy. I can only imagine what some farmers are going through when you compound the drought.

“Many people are dwelling on the negatives of this storm.”

I hope the National Weather Service, The Weather Channel and NOAA fail.

However, by continuing to predictably “err on the side of caution”, they have already failed.
